HI

I will be bringing in the New Years at Disney World and I'm so excited:bounce: :Pinkbounc :hyper:

But which park should I choose to bring in the New Year? Are any of the parks doing any spectacular for New Years Eve. I know most of them have an evening fireworks display. But what other activities will be going on leading up to the countdown?

You might want to check the main disney.com site fairly frquently for updates as to what is going on. I know that Pleasure Island has a HUGE celebration for the New Year. I would think that being at MK would be the coolest! Standing in front of the castle, watching fireworks.....ahhh excuse me..just dreamin! Have a great trip!

Not to give you even more to think about - but don't limit yourself to a park! Being at Downtown Disney or the Boardwalk could be fun too!

wherever you go, new years eve will be magical.. if you decide on EPCOT we'll be there bringing in the new year with you

NYE is a big party all over WDW (AK does close). There will be "super" fireworks in all the parks at midnight. Epcot will have musical entertainment in every country and all kinds of other entertainers throughout all of Epcot. MGM usually has a "name" entertainer perform and brings back "Sorcery in the Sky" for midnight. All the parks hand out hats and noisemakers. Alcohol is available at Epcot and MGM. MK stays "dry".

The PI party is a special ticket event with a name band or bands. The cost has ranged from $65-$175. I would guess this year might fall in the roughly $100 range.

Whichever park you pick, get in during the day and ask before you leave whether you'll be able to get back in later.

Thank you for the great advice.

and I guess I never thought about celebrating outside of the park, just in case I can't get back inside one of the other parks.

Thank you :p

We are gonna be there toomy 16 year old DD and me. We can[t decide between Epcot and MGM-we figure MK will be the most crowded. Anyone have any advice on which park is better-MGM or Epcot for me and a 16 year old? Are the rides at MGM open till 1 a.m. too?

EPCOT is really cool because all the countries celebrate at different times. Like in their homeland. EPCOT is one big STREET PARTY!!!!!!

MK was great! Awesome fireworks. Never been to any of the other parks so I don't know how they are.

mgm for us...they offer a fireworks display that is shown only twice a year called sorcery (sp?) in the sky...it is shown on nye and the 4th of july...we were there for the 4th of july this year and the show was amazing...
i have also heard great things about epcot for nye as well...just keep checking disney.com for updates regarding events...i don't think you will find a park that isn't crowded but if you go in with the right attitude you will have a great time....
see you there....

We were at Epcot last year for NYE. They turned the millennium pavilion into a dinner buffet and then had a live band later in the evening. If you choose EPcot, keep an eye on these boards and if they do the dinner buffet again, someone here will post when they begin to take ressies. It was awesome.

Epcot had large screens and DJ's set up all over WS. FW, had live bands on stage, large screens. It was quite a party. We were slightly hampered last year by the torrential rains, but still had a great time. We chose Epcot rather than the MK because we felt the park could handle the massive crowds a little better, more room for dispersement. MK becomes such a bottleneck on July 4th, we were afraid of the same thing at NYE.

Epcot was great. We loved the fact that they had so many different locations with musical entertainment and each location had a different type of music. It dispersed the crowds nicely. It's a long evening waiting for midnight, and Epcot has so many places tucked away to grab a hot drink or a bite to eat, it was very pleasant experience.

It looks like Epcot is the place to be on NYE with MGM trailing close behind. Wow I know I'll have a wonderful time where ever I go.

I like the idea of the different countries celebrating NYE in their own way. And I'm curious about the fabulous event at MGM that is compared to the 4th of July.....hmmmmm:tongue: :hyper:
