Help! What's a good WDW gift for a 9 month old?

I'm terrible at buying gifts for babies so I thought I'd ask the experts. I'm going to WDW next week and I need to bring back a gift for dbf's 9 month old nephew. On previous disney trips I got him a onesie with Mickey on it (that never fit him) and a baby mickey plush. I'm only taking a carry on so whatever I get would have to be small or flat. Would an outfit be my best bet? He's almost 30 pounds now and I want the outfit to last the winter. Would I buy 18-24 months?

Outfits are hard... But knowing the baby's weight can help, just keep in mind that at that age/weight what fits right for their weight may be too long or too confining for comfort. For that reason I would probably pick out a picture frame, some legos made for little ones or something else you can have shipped home for you and then you don't have to carry it. If DBF is going with you, what about getting a picture of you two with Mickey, framing it and giving it to him? That is a gift I, as a Mom, would think is cool. We've always tried to keep pictures of family in our girls rooms when they were small, and talked about who they were. Then when we saw them it was less unfamiliar.

Wow, he's a big boy for 9 months! My daughter is only 17 pounds, still wears 3-6 month clothing and she's 7 months old. My nephew is a year old and about 25 pounds and he wears 24 months, so if you do get him an outfit you'd want to buy it bigger than 24 months. My niece is 35 pounds/39 inches and she wears a 4T, so my guess would be a 2T for the winter. His height is importnat too though. My daughter is 27 inches so some items she wears 6-9 months because the 3-6 months are too short. So if he fits weightwise in a 2T, it could be too long. Your best bet for clothes would probably be a t-shirt (or swweatshirt if it's for the winter) because I find that it's easier to get a good fit that way. Ask his mom what size he wears and see if it's different for shirts versus pants. There's a cute fleece outfit I bought for my daughter that they also have in boy version and it's sold with the top and bottom separately. The boy's verion is navy pants with a light green top.

My SIL got my daughter a WDW 2004 bib and a minnie rattle when she was 3 months. The bib you could do, but he'd be too old for the rattle. Also we got my daughter a birthday Pooh in Disneyland last month. He's not flat, but you'd be able to carry him on I'm sure. He's wearing a party hat and holding a cake with 1 candle and it plays happy birthday when you squeeze the cake. Since he'll be 1 soon that might be a cute gift for him.

How about Mickey ears personalized with his name on the back or a "My First Mickey" stuffed animal (I found them in the MK).

The one piece of clothing we got the most use from was a hooded fleece jacket with Mickey on the front. We bought them big (cuffed the sleeves for the first year) and kids are still wearing them for a second year. Great for spring or fall or just as a sweatshirt in the winter. Jackets can be worn every day unlike a shirt so he'll get more use out of it IMO. Another option would be a Halloween themed item or Mickey sippy cup, bib etc. Have fun!

Kids silverware would be a neat gift too, he is almost to the age where he'll start using them on his own. If nothing else the kitchen shop at DTD should have great choices.

Thanks for all your great ideas . I think I'll end up using a lot of these suggestions and get him a few different things. His sister is a big princess fan so I find tons of stuff for her, but I haven't bought a lot for the baby. I also got an idea from ahutton's post - his mom loves personalized picture frames so maybe I'll get those for both the kids.

Now if I can just figure out what to get for my fmil

we bought our dd (then 13 months) a set of 7 Dwarves that are soft/vinyl and about 6 inches tall each. They have been a favorite of both children and they love to chew on them. Like I said, ours have been through two kids and they still look brand new. They are easy to clean and are SO cute! I think we paid $10 for the set. They are making a return trip with us this time since dd#2 can't live without them

Sperk99, that's a gorgeous baby and an amazing picture!!! Someone else got him the Mickey ears already but hopefully I'll find another kind of hat for him.

Disney_1derland do you remember where you bought the dwarf set? I have a 12 month old cousin that loves those kinds of dolls.

Last time we were at WDW, we bought our DD a set of Mickey "keys" that she chewed on for 3-4 months...

In the World of Disney at DTD or Mousegears at Epcot or at the Emporium at MK.

But darned if I can remember which one! They were in a see through plastic gift bag that was like 7 inches tall and about 15 inches long, they were all in a line. I'm pretty sure it was the World of Disney store though.

They are the greatest and have consistently been one of the most played with toys we have.

There were some at the little shop next to the Snow White ride. I've also seen sets of the Pooh characters, and they had some at the shop by the Pooh ride

At nearly 30 lbs already wow I would say 24 months for sure maybe xsmall or small in regular childrens sizes even.

I bought one of the little stuffed Mickeys just like in sperk99 picture of her son. My daughter was 10 months and adored it until it got lost. We still have the Minnie and she adores it too.

Yup he's a big guy and he likes to be held a lot. Babysitting him is a workout . I spoke to his grandma today and I found out he'll be fitting into 24 months soon. That'll make things easier.
