I was all set to buy tickets tonight with our SW points. It turns out DH's Rapid Rewards account is set up with the name Jeff. His drivers license will say Jeffrey. I had Jeffrey as the traveler name and it said it doesn't match the RR account, and I needed to change it. So I go to change it within his account and it says you have to write them a letter! I wanted to buy these tonight.

Is it okay if his ticket says Jeff and his ID says Jeffrey? I know in the past I have heard that as long as they can tell it is a form of the name it is okay, but maybe that's not the case anymore.

OR, can I leave his RR number blank and fill it in with Jeffrey even though I'm buying with his points?

Okay, I'm thinking I can leave his RR number blank and add it to the reservation later, once his name is changed...?

Jeff is acceptable for Jeffery, Chris for Christopher. It's best to travel under the name that matches your ID, but shortened names are fine.

I had a plane ticket booked as Connie when the name on all of my ID is Constance.

I had no problem at the Atlanta airport getting it changed on the ticket. The customer service counter was fine. I was not allowed to go through security until it was corrected.

It was worse at John Wayne Airport. The guy at the customer service counter argued with me. He didn't want to change it and wanted me to buy a brand new ticket with the correct name.
I did have a bill that had the name Connie on it with my address and I used that to show him that I really was the person on my ID and the ticket was ok to transfer to my full name. It was a pain but it was why I brought the bill with me.

That reminds me - I need to contact the same teacher again and make sure he has my correct name put on my ticket when he buys the group airline tickets for going to the Vex Robotics World Championships. I'm going as a chaperone again. It should be fun.

Since you are buying the tickets with points there is no need to have his rr number in it at all. So yes, just buy it in his ID name and work it out later if you feel like it.

That's what I did. We did send in a letter to change his name and can add his RR number after that's done, but the tickets are bought (and already changed...) I've been very needy this weekend getting this all arranged!
