Can anyone out there answer my question. We visited Disneyworld for our first time last Dec. 28-Jan 1. We stayed at The French Quarter and loved it. We phoned this week to inquire about res there for the same dates and they are telling us the only moderate available is Coronado Springs. We didn't book last year until late October. Should we hold out and perhaps something will come available. We are from small town Nova Scotia, Canada and need some advise. Thank you.

Make your reservations for CSR, then change them if something opens up.

You should be able to change up to aobut 45 days out without a penalty.

We're staying at CSR by choice, but I would go somewhere else if that's what was available.

We do not plan to rent a vehicle while we are there. I heard that CSR is out of the way and you really should have one. What do you think? Have you stayed there in the past?

I answered on your other thread

but as for transportation, CSR has great transportation and you don't have to share a bus like you do at POFQ.

Actually, CSR is the most centrally located of the Moderates, and has some of the best bus transportation, because they don't share busses.

They also now have internal shuttles in the resorts as well, so being spread out does not matter as much as some of the other resorts.

That being said, I will probably rent cars because of our desire to get in and out of the parks more than once a day, and our desire to go to several different resorts to eat.

The WDW trasportation system is not too good at getting guests from one resort to another, unless it's from one monorail resort to another.

If we did decide to book a room at the CSR, any ideas on the best location, I understand this resort is much larger then POFQ. We have two sons 8 and 9, one has asthma.

How long ago did you call? Checking online CSR isn't available except for a suite and CBR and POR only show King bed rooms available which won't work if you have kids.

Caribbean Beach is geographically the most centrally located.

You've been given some good advice. If you really want to go, you need to book now that something is available. If you wait too long, you may not be able to get anything.

I'm surprised you were even able to get a standard room. I'm only coming up with availability of a Jr. Suit, or a 1 bedroom king bed suite.

Interesting...

I have three different maps. CBR looks more central on one, POR looks central on one, and CBR on the third. :rotfl2:

Average commute times via Disney transport from CBR and CSR to the big parks are VERY close.

Looking at self drive times, the times are about the same for the major parks. CSR is closer to AK and the water parks. CBR is closer to DTD.

There is still a good chance you can get POFQ. We ran into a similar problem last year trying to book the GF. Our travel agent figured out that some of the hotels hold a certain number of rooms for people that are going to stay the whole holiday (from before Christmas to New Year's). I just checked the Disney website and it shows POFQ available for a family of 4 if you book 12/23 - 1/1 (standard view or water view). Once you make the reservation call Disney and remove the first days from your reservation revising it to 12/28 - 1/1. We were able to do this without any problem and it worked out great! I believe we waited a day after making the original reservation to call to revise it.

The geographical center of Walt Disney World property is in Epcot. I'm not sure where. I've looked and looked for the marker, but I can't find the thing.

But anyway, since CBR is closer to Epcot, I think that would be the most centrally located of the moderates.

Of ALL the resorts, I think the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk and Swalphin are the most centrally located.

Thank You Disney Mom-We just tryed what you suggested, my husband is on the phone and sure enough we were able to get POFQ. We will make the changes later. Thank You so Much-You made our evening.

Thank You to everyone who helped me this evening. This was my first time on a discussion forum and you were great. I know where to get all my questions answered. 11pm in Nova Scotia-Good Night and Thanks.
