HELP! - We bought fanny packs!

I have a fanny pack that was actually made by a company called " Outward Hound" and it is for using while you hike with your dog. It is big and roomy and padded so well and it has 2 places on the front to hold a water bottle or coke. It actually comes with 2 empty plastic squirt bottles but I never used them. Since DD is diabetic it has tons of room to hold her testing equipment and emergency snacks. LOVE IT! I also carry a little emergency first aid kit, sunscreen, moleskin, autograph book, camera, sunglasses for me and DD, anti bacterial wipes, the little crystal lite powder packs to make water crystal lite and I think thats about it.
I used a backpack last year in Disney and it was bad. My back hurt and I got so tired of lugging it around. I have used the fanny pack at other places like the zoo and Kings Island and it has worked great. I dont care if I look like a dork.. I'm not there to meet guys or win contests.. unless its a " biggest dork" contest.

Here's a little tip for all you fanny pack lovers(and yes I am one) at the end of a long day when your tired and sore, turn the pack around so it is on the small of your back. It feels sooo good. Putting the extra weight from the front to the back changes your posture and at the end of a long day it is a bit of a releif.

Ohh, I always wear them there. My DH & I are a bit sway backed and it helps even things out. :thumbsup2 Plus, It doesn't show as much in quick pictures!

I got fanny packs for all of us when we went. I wasn't about to lug my purse around, and it kept them from handing me things to carry for them, like they do when I have my purse. I learned to pack only the essentials, and it was great to have my hands free, and not worry about forgetting it somewhere since I could wear it on most rides.
Yeah, I think they are a little dorky. But the convience far outweighs that, and so many people are wearing them there, I don't think you really notice.

fanny packs are dorky??? Well I guess we are dorky too then!!

I have a 6yo ds wtih food allergies so I need somewhere to keep his extra epi (he wears one too in a special epi pen belt) and the benadryl and inhalers. So much easier to carry the fanny packs then a purse or bag. Dh usually keeps the camera and assorted other things I manage to convince him to carry!!

dorky? unfashionable?

Says who? some of those designers on the home makeover shows? :artist:

I'll proudly wear my fanny pack and Goofy grin for my whole visit! :cool1:

OMG...don't do it, don't give in. No it is not OK to become dorky or "be your parents" you don't have to be a dufus to be comfortable.

Coach makes a great bag. It is an across the body bag, it is stylish, holds more than a belly/fanny bag or whatever its called, and it's hands free and adjustable. It is not heavy and you don't have to take it off to go on a ride. Go to www.coach.com and under handbags go to types then look for "across body" it's called a Swingpack. I always get so many compliments on it, and it is such a great bag you can wear it everywhere...not just WDW. It's great when shopping.

If you start wearing those horrible fanny bags you know what's next?
matching lime green shirts, bright colored crocks, elastic waist bands, socks with sandals, mister fans and bottles hanging from your belt and flip up sunglasses.....Do you really want to go there? I mean really, life is too short to walk around like that, no matter where you are.

So how many of the above mentioned "faux pas" do we need to make in order to qualify as a dufus? Because with a lime green shirt (I'm in the market for one, anyone seen any good sales?), my red, white and blue airwalks (cheaper version of crocs they are like red and white tye dyed with a blue ankle strap that has white stars on it), elastic band comfy shorts...does it really matter if I add a fanny pack? Haven't I already crossed the threshold into geekdom before I don the "pack"?

:rotfl2: :lmao:
You might as well

I used to wear a fanny pack but found it to be uncomfortable. So now I've pulled the strap to it's longest length and I wear it across my chest like a messenger bag. It actually looks very sporty and kinda cool.

just ordered my swingbag, although i have every neon colored croc that is known to man. i wait tables and crocs are the only shoes that get me through the 5-7 hours of walking during a daily shift.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to spend $200-$300 on a bag to wear to a theme park! If I could, I think I'd just hire someone to carry everything for me!

Last trip, I wore my fanny pack, my family had matching sweatshirts & I wore bright blue airwalks. I've tried messenger bags, backpacks and different style purses. My back aches at the end of the day. That doesn't happen when I use my fanny pack. Fashion is great in the real world, but at the Happiest Place on Earth, I prefer comfort.

I use a fanny pack, and find it nice to not have to take off the backpack on every ride and have a sweaty back at the end of the day, the fanny pack is so much easier, just strap it on leave it on and everything is within reach. :goodvibes

There are others on the page but a signature swing pack is 98.00 on the bottom of the page. Not a lot of money considering you can wear it everywhere. That is the beauty of buying a bag like that....it's not just for a theme park.

Okay--these bags look great, but I want to be sure I understand this--so wear them, say, over your left shoulder and on your right hip? These bags were in style years ago--can't believe they've made a come back! Also, can you fit two water bottles in them? Kind of a dorky question I realize, but, I am going to WDW without DH but with DS8 and DD6 in about two weeks and I will need to carry a bottle of water and a bottle of gatoraid because of the heat.

The Coach swing bags are not big enough for you to carry water or gatoraid in them.

Wow! that's some sweeping statement... which I assume is tongue in cheek??

I happen to love my crocs and will be wearing them next trip as they are very comfy.

I've never had a fanny pack as we like to carry a lot of stuff - esp water and sunscreen and snacks - and so have to have a back pack.

I do have a swing bag... by the way you don't need to buy one with a designer label - I got one in a local store for $15 - however you cannot fit a lot in them... your wallet, phone and maybe a small camera and you're done... not really my idea of a disney bag.

Personally if I could afford a coach handbag the last place I'd use it us a disney where it gets risks getting covered in stale water... sunscreen... ice cream...

JMHO

DW and I will be taking our Fanny Packs also, we don't carry too much into the parks, only what we need for the day. If the weather seems stormy, I will take the backpack to carry a change of clothes, our Mickey ponchos, and a place to help keep the camera's dry.
