I can't belive it, we're becoming our parents! Except, they aren't really fanny packs like we think of. They are the ones at Old Navy. (not on the net right now.) I think they will work great for us. I'll be glad to have my hands free and not get hit in the head when I bend over. But I'm in SHOCK! I told the family going with us and they were like, ok, we're walking on the other side of the street! lol.
So, how did you deal when you switched? :rotfl: Do you pack differently? We each got one, so things will be divided. DH will have Mini DVD cam. I'll have digi cam. I'll have light snacks and 2 diapers. Kids are 2 & 4. We don't do autograph books yet. Or pressed pennies. We'll have a little sunscreen.

If you can fit all that into a fanny pack, I'm impressed!

Also, you don't really become your parents until your start wearing black socks & sandals!

Have a great trip!

Don't forget tissues and band aids or moleskin.

lol. They are quite roomy inside. The dvd cam is very small. We LOVE it. Got a great deal on it. It weighs 1lb 1oz with batt & disc. It's 2 1/5 " x 3 7/15" x 5 1/13" (56 x 88 x 129mm). LOVE IT!
I'm trying to find a pic of the bag. It was in the "men's bags" section of our store that was on sale a few weeks back.

Nobody told me that fanny packs are so uncool. ;) At least mine has Mickey hands and magic sparkles on it--leftover from the days when Disney resorts gave them out free for paying with Amex. I won't become my parents until I wear those stylin' clip-on sunglasses (not the nice magnetic ones). :smooth:

We love our fanny packs and don't care if we look like dorks! Being able to do the parks hands-free without a sweaty back is tops! :thumbsup2 LOL!

I think you will fit right in at WDW with your fanny packs. This was never something my parents never wore. :rotfl2:

But I have to admit that WDW is the only place I will wear one. :sunny:

I think you will be glad you have them when you see how "hands-free" your trip will be and believe me, your shoulder and back will be so glad you're not carrying a purse with you. princess:

Mine will be the fanny-pack with the green mickey heads hanging from it!

I can't imagine going into the park without a fanny pack! Everything is reachable and easy to get to, and it isn't too heavy.

Don't forget park passes and hotel room key. The hotel room key cannot be near a cell phone - sometimes it causes it to de-magnitize. And sunglasses - don't forget the sunglasses!!

i agree, they come in very handy. will be wearing one when we go in july. digital cameras and camcordes are so small now that a fanny pack is almost a must. i love my sony handycam. it fit right there in my fanny pack.

We bought the same fanny pack at ON. DH carries every gadget imaginable. This will fit the minidvd, digital camera nad his faux ipod thingy. I have a clear backpack (security LOVES me) that holds the Tide to Go pen, purell, tissues, sunscreen, etc.

That pack is absolutely HUGE. I love it. I keep saying my dh needs a man purse. Well here it is.

The only time I ever wear a fanny pack is at WDW- looking dorky is a small price to pay for having your hands free. :Pinkbounc I'm also a big fan of locker rentals now and utilizing the resort privilege of having purchases sent to your room. Last time we went we stayed off site and it was a pain in the butt. From now on, it's strictly on-site!

After my last fanny pack bit the dust, I used a single sling backpack for my last trip. Worked out well but I felt very uncoordinated as I was so used to using my fanny pack. The backpack holds more and I was planning to use that for our upcoming summer trip. Used it last week on one of my kids' field trips on a hot, humid day and I can't believe how much warmer it made me feel. Figured I'd be miserable in the FL heat if I used one so I found another fanny pack at the same store where I got my last one. Pretty much the same design, so I'm looking forward to using my old set-up...and being hands-free...and having my back open to whatever breezes may be available to cool me off on a hot day!!!!

I just may join the dork patrol this August. Last year I used a lightweight messenger bag but I need something new. I was looking for another like it, but the ones I find are too heavy. So I may go fanny pack this time. I already have red white and blue airwalks that embarrass my children I don't know if a fanny pack would have any worse effect on them. LOL

It's the only place I'll wear one but I find them indispensable at WDW! You can keep the things you want closest to you everywhere and not have to leave them behind. Personally I don't care how dorky I look on vacation. Sometimes I look like one giant wrinkle walking down the street (with the wrinkly clothes! :teeth: ) Comfort and convenience !

I like to fold a 2 gallon ziplock and put it into my pack. (Before I knew about 2 gallon ziplocks, I would fold a plastic shopping bag up.) When I go on the water rides, I take out the ziploc and pack all of my stuff into it--pack, hat, contents of my pockets, etc. Everything stays nice and dry. Oh, I usually a have a washcloth in my pack as well to dry my face after the water rides.

OP here. We bought 2 of the ON kind. Two different colors, black and grey. So it will be easy to differentiate. I think it's nice that they have the padded part that goes around a little farther releaving the pressure point. With the wider bands. (I remember wearing one when I was about 12 (mom made me) and I hated the way it pulled if I loaded it too full.)
That's what we have a Sony HandyCam! LOVE IT!

Fanny packs are the only way my DD11 and myself don't lose everything! She still managed to leave hers on Space Mountain - I'm still not sure why she took it off. (We were able to retrieve it a few hours later!)
