Hey all...
I know this is kinda weird, but I need some advice.. And who better to go to than my fellow DISer's. :rotfl:

My family and I are booked to go to WDW for an August trip. At the same time the inaugural cruise season of the brand new NCL EPIC is happening!! I had planned to go this year, but my love for WDW kind of overtook, and I changed plans. Now, I have the chance to change my airfare (sans penalty) and head for the boat should I want to...

But I dont know if I want to. I have discussed this at length (really at exhaust!!) with hubby and kids and they have decided to go with whatever mom is booking...

Oh help !!

IIWY- I'd go with NCL. Not that I don't LOVE me some WDW, but if I had the chance to go on that ship, and the desire- heck, you can always hit WDW at Spring Break or Christmas, right? Plus, at least for me- I hate Florida in the summer. Too humid!

Good luck!

Not even a CLOSE CALL for me...DO THE EPIC!!! Seriously, that ship is AMAZING, NCL does a great job with the "freestyle cruising" concept. NO BRAINER. If you can do the Epic...DO IT. :thumbsup2

(Disney will always be there. Just saying.)

I know that NCL is definately going to be really great, but I have my heart set on WDW...

Take the cruise!!! Just think of relaxing on the ship versus fighting all the hot sticky humid crowds at Disney in August!

Have a great time whatever you decide!!!

We're booked on the Epic for Aug 28th. I'm looking forward to something different than Disney and my DH has been dying for a cruise since our honeymoon! I like the "freesytle" of NCL especially with DS. I don't want to deal with the formal thing or be tied to a certain meal time. My in-laws are frequent cruisers with NCL and won't do anything else. They are coming with us for the Epic and will have a cabin next to ours... built in babysitters!

I know what I would do, but maybe my situation is different than yours so let me ask a few questions:

how old are your kids?
when is the last time you went to WDW?
when will you get to travel again after this trip?

I would jump at the chance to go on the Epic because for years we have gone to WDW every year and I love it too but it's nice to do something different. We went on Norwegian Sky last week - it's our first non-WDW family vacation - and absolutely had a blast. Keep in mind, we have a timeshare in Kissimmee so we know we will make it back to WDW next year. Our last trip to WDW was just a year ago and our DD is 15 now so I am not missing a "prime year" of her belief in the characters or anything. My answer might be harder if my DD were young, if I hadn't been to WDW in a long time, or if this were the last trip for a long time. For me though, I would jump at the chance to go on an inaugural cruise of an incredible ship.

I'm sure you and your family will have fun with either choice. Really, in the end, isn't it about spending time together no matter where you end up? That's how I always see it.
