HELP: WBC Reservation Mess

I booked a week with VS at WBC for 7 nights for Thanksgiving with a quote of $1299 for a 3 BR Presidential. Invoice came over the weekend for my remaining balance and states it's a 3 Bedroom Deluxe instead of Presidential.

I'm so confused. The guy said there is no Presidential right now in the system and suggested I contact the agent I made the reservation/quote with..... ARgh

I'm so stressed! I made this reservation back in January!!!!1 What should I do? How much is a 3 BR Deluxe running right now? Really had my heart set on the Presidential since it'll be the kids' first trip out there and my parents too.

I'm thinking about my worse case scenario....how mcuh should I ask for a discount? Stress......

VS does everything mannually! Even though I went through my $1,299 Presidential Quote link to pay for my deposit, they got confused in making the reservation and booked a deluxe for us. I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed. VS offered me $899 for the Thanksgiving Week. The agent told me to call him a week prior to check in to remind him to "request" the room. Do you guys think this is true? I thought WBC no longer takes advance requests. I guess $899 is not that bad. Do you?

What "guy" are you talking to? Someone at VS?

Presidential or not, $1,299 is an OK price for a 3B and the deluxes are perfectly fine. It's really not much of a "worst case" scenario.

I would talk to the agent who made your reservation to see what's up. Perhaps he made a mistake. Perhaps he plans to flip your reservation into a presidential at the last second.

If they did sell you a presidential, but mistakenly put you in a deluxe, I think you should get something, but I would not ask for the moon. I would see what they say first.

You need to check your original reservation confirmation carefully. I have used VS several times and always for presidential units. Every time I have booked with them the initial quote was for a deluxe even though we discussed and I requested a presidential. I have had to email/call back and get an updated quote that reflected the presidential.

My guess is they booked you in a deluxe to begin with and since you requested a presidential you did not notice it. I hope they are able to find you a unit, I cannot comment on deluxe vs. presidential as we have only used the presidential. I can tell you that my last week long stay in a 2br presidential was in Jan. 2013 for $1200. My quote for a June 2014 trip was even higher from VS and several other providers. So again my guess is they booked deluxe as a 3br presidential over Thanksgiving would be more expensive.

This website shows the 3 bedroom deluxe and presidential unit floor plans side by side. The balcony is certainly larger with the presidential unit but as someone who has stayed in both categories, I don't remember the actual inside living space being all that much more when we've stayed in a presidential unit. I just did a quick Google search (well, I thought it'd be quick) and as it turns out, the 3 bedroom presidential has anywhere from 20-77 more square footage than a deluxe. 77 certainly makes a difference in a standard hotel room but it's not something you'd notice in a unit this large, in my opinion that is.

As another poster mentioned, go over your initial reservation confirmation to confirm whether you did indeed book a presidential unit or a deluxe. I too ran into the same problem where I had asked for a presidential quote but received one for a deluxe. Because I had requested a presidential I automatically deducted that the quote was for one (this was through VU) but upon reading it again, it was for a deluxe unit. It took another phone call to get a price adjustment for the 3 bedroom presidential.

For 7 nights over Thanksgiving that is a very low price for a 3br unit, I think they were fair. If you rent from them again double check your quotes.

My quote did say "presidential"....I followed the link in that quote and paid my deposit. They claimed that the link doesn't necessary flags my reservation as a "presidential" reservation. Because I have asked quotes for Deluxe and Presidential, they just assumed it was for Deluxe. They do everything manually. You bet I will have to double check if I ever go with VS again.

Oh, I'd be disappointed to. There's certainly a lot of excitement that comes with knowing you're staying in a presidential unit!

Did you contact VS in regard to your situation? I saw that you posted that while your quote said presidential they automatically assumed you wanted deluxe since you had requested quotes on both. That, to me, isn't fair. They should have double checked first before assuming anything. I know that the presidential units fill fast but maybe there's one available that VS is able to book for you?

I would be very unhappy if I had a quote for a presidential that I paid for and now it is not available. I would contact them again and reference your email that says presidential and point out that they are not honoring the reservation that they booked.

I have stayed in both a 4 br presidential's and regular 3 bedroom and have enjoyed them both. That being said if I thought I booked a presidential and didnt get it I would be livid. The last 3 br regular unit we got was 375 total for 3 nights off ebay. Not a holiday week. Good luck getting this straightened out.

I think this discount is fair solution. Sometimes people make mistakes. With the savings, you can have a nice big meal somewhere.
