Help wanted - Swarovski crystal

Anyone familiar with using the Swarovski crystals on baseball hats and fabric purses? I've seen them sold on ebay and at local fund-raising auctions - usually with sports related themes.

I'd love to make some of these as gifts. I know they sell some type of the Swarovski crystals that are designed to be iron-on but I don't see how that would work with a baseball hat or purse since it would be difficult to iron.

This is a project I really want to do but I hate to invest money into a craft I know nothing about.

Thanks.

On a regular basis I use Swarovski rhinestones on my DD's costumes. I put it on using E-6000. This glue works the best and dries very quickly.

This is exactly what I do for my DDs twirling costumes...a little E-6000 and a toothpick, voila!

I use Gem Tac for DD's dance costumes. I have tried E600, but didn't like it for the small crystals. (though I swear by it for gluing patches onto a suitcase!)

I use a hotfix tool. You have to use special Hotfix stones, they come with a special permnant glue already on it. The tool picks up your rhinestone and heats it up to melt the glue. Then you just apply it where ever you want it to go and it becomes perminant once it cools. There is a great site online that sells Swarovski crystals as well as a less expensive version. Plus it has free shipping. I love it and I would never use anything else again.

Swarovski also has flatback gems that you sew on. Of course, glue would be faster, but it can also fail sooner than sewn crystals.

You can usually find good prices on eBay. Just do some looking around for them.

Yesterday, I saw a really cute Celtics championship tank top that had Swarovski crystals sewn onto it. This was a manufactured piece. The price: $79.99. I couldn't believe it.

I told my husband I could make one myself for a whole lot less than $80 - although I wasn't sure I could get the sew-on crystals. Glad to know they are out there. I may need to invest in a few to make some cute tops, hats, bags etc. - then maybe I'll resell those for a whole lot less than the $80 price.

If you plan on using alot of Rhinestones you might want to seriously consider investing in the HotFix tool. It is super easy to use and it is very fast.

I recently go into the Hotfix thing.
I love it.
A lot of places sell the hotfix tool or iron in a combo pack with a handful of crystals. Its way to much fun to put a little bling on things. :)

Good luck.

Can you please post the link to the websites you all use for the Hot Fix Stones? I just posted a thread about this......I wish I had seen this first!
Thanks!
