Ok, Looking for help booking a flight for 4 from Albany NY to Orlando March 24 (after4pm or very early 25th) coming back in late afternoon on the 27th.

Any suggestion? I am torn booking on US Air....any advice. HAs anyone flown Southeast or Independence airlines?

Thank you all!!!

According to yesterday's Washington Post business section, Independence won't be in business by March. Between ALB and MCO, I would use Southwest.

Thanks for the heads up...Southwest has no good flights left checked 1 day after they opened the Easter window) Southeast is in Stewart (Newberg about 1 1/2 hrs away for 500 less than US Air or United appx 1800.00) Torn about US Air, Have tickets being held on United.

If US Air has better times/prices you could book them....they are guarenteed to be flying thru March...after that it is a little more iffy...the good news is they are code share partners with NWA and others...so you should not have a problem getting another airline to honor their tickets if something happened....not so with Independence Air.

Independance is in Albany now..are they already going to pull out??

Keep trying, I just "finally" booked for Feb's winter break. All nine of us. I was starting to sweat, that's for sure.

I bit the bullet and Booked with US AIR (1459.00 for 4 tickets) SWA was 1533 for the same times

Please post some help on getting SWA tickets for our April 17-23rd trip....Thank you all.

None of the stories I read on Washington Post about Independence indicated that they would not be around by March. The stories I read indicated that they had a 65% chance of filing Chapter 11 next year. If Delta files, we'll have 3 large carriers in Chapter 11, and they're all still flying.

Have to correct a comment made by someone about USAirways codeshare partner.

The only codeshare partner for USAirways is United Airlines, not NorthWest Airlines, as previously posted. NorthWest Airlines codeshares with Continental Airlines.

And nothing is truly "guaranteed" to happen in commercial aviation. I would use caution, here. Particularly when we speak of "longevity."

With all the excess capacity in commercial aviation, having 1 or 2 of the legacy carriers fall by the wayside would actually help the industry dramatically...

So goes the fate of USAirways...

:wave2:

Today's Washington Post Travel section mentioned that USAir has cash to last thru Februaryand travel experts say booking thru that time period should be safe. They don't say anything however about the advisability of booking USAir after February... It s a tough call if they're the way cheaper than anyone else. But if they're not cheaper by much it may be smarter to book some other airline from March on.
