Is it or is it NOT possible to easily (Within 10 minutes, a minimum of danger and fuss) to walk from either Port Orleans Resorts to the front gates of Epcot?

We are actively "discussing" this and have agreed to petition you all for an answer.

Person stories would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

That would be like walking along an interstate - very dangerous! Unless something has drastically changed since I was there last...You CAN walk from one Port Orleans resort to the other in about 10 min. on a nice walkway by the river.

No Way! Unless there is some shortcut thru swamps that I haven't heard about ;)

It is not possible within ten minutes. It is not possible with a minimum of danger/fuss.

Aside from the above-mentioned lack of sidewalks, it would take more than ten minutes just to navigate the parking lot on foot. Walt Disney World is twice the size of Manhattan. Things aren't as close as they look on a map.

Even if you could get past the guard shack (note that while Disney obviously does not discourage walking, they do discourage it in non-designated areas such as along roadways), there's little or nothing in the way of sidewalks. Part of the route is actually highway-like ramps.

Point of comparison: it takes between six and ten minutes for a bus to drive from the last pickup at Old Key West (which is closer than Port Orleans) to the bus drop area at Epcot. Therefore, there is no way to get there by foot in ten minutes.

No way!

When DH and I were on our honeymoon, we were so tired after a day of parks. We just missed the POFQ bus and the thought of waiting for another was awful. So we saw the OKW bus pull in and decided to hop on that since it was right next door on the map. We figured it would be a short walk along the river back to our hotel. Boy were we wrong. First of all, you cannot walk along the river. We had to walk through woods to find our way back to the road. It ended up taking us about an hour to get from one to the other. Even if we had just taken the road from the beginning it would have been a good 30 minute walk.

No, it is not. Disney does not allow walking along roadways that have no sidewalks. It's as simple as that.

:scared1::scared1:There is no way possible that it could be done, especially not with even A HUGE amount of danger! That is why there is a bus!:goodvibes

It takes me about 10 minutes to walk from the Swan to the International Gateway entrance of Epcot. 'Nuff said! :lmao:

You can't walk from Port Orleans to any of the parks.

Not within 10 minutes.
Not without danger and fuss.

There are no sidewalks,
You'll be hit by a bus!

Excellent! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

And, no, I wouldn't attempt this walk either. Even if it was physically possible, I can't see it taking less than 30 minutes and it would be a tiring trip.

11 years ago we stayed at Port Orleans FQ for our honeymoon. I remember thinking that we would be able to walk to Epcot. I had absolutely no concept of how big WDW was. Once I got there I realized that there was no way.

If you were even allowed to walk along the roads, it would still be about 2 miles from Port Orleans to the front gates at Epcot.

Yeh, depending on the route, it's between 1.8 and 2.0 miles (so sez the runner's website I use to measure distances). But of course, then there's the highway thing that everyone is mentioning, too.

Embrace the idea of BUS.

That senario is true of Swan/ Dolphin or the Yacht/Beach Club. Also the Boardwalk hotels. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

It sounds like the "debate" is solved. I'll break the news to my friend asap.

And again, thank you all.

I wouldn't walk from Port Orleans to Epcot. I would think it's more than a 10-minute walk, and there is a ton of traffic on the roads you would be walking on to get there. Seems like it might be kind of dangerous.
