We are Disney veterans and have learned the ins and outs about every Disney resort. My kids want to go to Universal Studios and Sea World next year. While at USF, we want to stay at one of their onsite resorts. Which one would you choose and why?

We need a little more info about your family. Kid's ages, etc. The hotels are so different that you can't just arbitrarily choose one.

Sorry. Kids are 9 and 12. Both girls and very active. Love to swim. Pool slides are a big hit with them. DW and I like to relax while watching kids swim. Looking for a resort comparable to the Poly or GF on Disney property. We like the deluxes. Thanks.

well i can't speak for the RPR (we are staying there this year), but our kids were the same age last february and the HRH was a big hit:thumbsup2 our kids loved the pool and the underwater speakers with the music was a nice touch. DW and I love the poolside wait staff:banana:, and its a very short walk to the parks. (we have heard a lot of great stuff about RPR for families and will try it this spring)

If you want a slide, your choice is between Hard Rock and Portofino (RPR doesn't have a slide). Portofino is more "Italian" themed and relaxing. Hard Rock is "busier" and more "rock and roll...in yer face" type resort. Having kids the ages you do, I'd lean toward the Hard Rock (probably a tad cheaper too). If you are looking for "south seas" theme, like Poly, the RPR is your choice....AND you ARE ENCOURAGED to pool hop (since RPR doesn't have a slide & the other 2 do). Whatever you choose, you won't be disappointed.

Portofino has everything you are looking for but it is a bit further away from the parks than Hard Rock. It is a very classy hotel with lots of great restaurants, entertainment and 3 pools.

We've stayed at both and I would give the edge to Portofino. It is quieter than the Hard Rock. If you are looking for action, choose Hard Rock.
