Moderators, please don't more... not a Disney Wedding Question!

Ted and I are in the beginning stages of our wedding plans. We plan to marry next April 2004. We will have a small wedding with less than 20 guests somewhere in Florida. There will be no wedding party...

We looked into Disney weddings and they are just too expensive for what we want to do.... we don't mind incorporating Disney into the wedding.

Any ideas on wedding places or plans, etc.????? I'm just brainstorming right now and would love my DIS friends to help!

Thanks!

the disneymooners group on yahoo? they can probably give you some ideas and not all of them got maried at disney.

This may be a bit too much for you, but we were reading a Disney Club magazine and there was a wedding picture. All the brides maids were dressed as princesses and the users were dressed as princes. It was really cute.

Well, first off, congratulations!!!!! That is great.

Where in FL do you want to be married? Beach, resort, hotel, my folks are leaving Sunday for 8 weeks in FL. 1 week with us in WDW , 6 weeks in Bonita Beach, and then a week or so in Margate. Poor dears. ;)

Also, what part of FL are you thinking?

I LOVE weddings. Just give me some parameters, and I will start searching for possible ideas/venues.

I saw something you might want to consider at a wedding site on the Net and thought it was a good idea for a small wedding like you suggest. This couple got a Grand Villa at Old Key West at Disney and held the wedding and reception right there. I'm not sure what type of ceremony you are planning on having but I'm sure you could arrange for a JP without going through Disney. What you serve your guests could also be as simple or as elaborate as you'd like as well....anything from getting catering from one of the local groceries (Goodings is pretty upscale) to having Disney do the food.

You might also look into what can be done for a small wedding at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. This would also be a really nice getaway place for a small group of friends and family. They have Grand Villas there as well that are actual freestanding beach houses.

We're thinking a garden wedding or something by the ocean....
Do I dare do it outdoors????

I would like a religious (protestant) ceremony, but a JP will be okay depending on the situation.

Ted and I were just talking and thinking doing a wedding elsewhere and maybe festivities at WDW for our families.... dinner at Epcot.... dessert party.....

We want it to be classy, but informal if it's possible to have both.
Since we are thinking of moving to Orlando area (or North Florida if I win the hgtv house....) wedding would ideally be within an hour of WDW.

I kind of like the Goodings catering idea..... I'm too much of a chicken to try anything on WDW property without an official WDW wedding though.... TRUST ME, we've discussed this one at length!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

Holly

I don't have any suggestions, but I know it'll be beautiful and congratulations. :)

Congratulations!!!!
I'm sure that no matter what you do it will be a magical day!:D

Thanks for all of the links!!!!!! My mind is spinning with ideas!!!

We saw a wedding this summer on Coronado Beach in California and it was very beautiful. If you don't mind a lot of sand, this might be something to consider. There's some super beaches on Florida's Gulf side IMO.

We saw a lovely wedding taking place at the Tradewinds Resort in St. Petersburg. They have a nice courtyard gazebo that is really pretty.

a great resource is always..

Have you thought about Captiva? Rent a house on the beach and have it there? Or maybe at the Swan or Dolphin

I don't know if you're willing to look outside of Florida or not, but my husband and I were married in April '02 at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef in St Thomas. We had a small wedding with about 6 guests. They have a beautiful wedding gazebo for the ceremony, and afterwards the photographer took my husband and I out to the beach for more pictures. The wedding packages are very reasonable, and they take care of all of the arrangements for you, including a professional photographer and videographer. You just have to tell them what you want. We couldn't have dreamed of a better wedding. Just a thought!
