DH and I decided to go to WDW next year during our 10th wedding anniversary. We will have DD and a baby that will be 7 months at the time. We already decided to stay at the Contemporary for 5 nights to be close to MK and monorail. I also wanted to include a "beach vacation" where we would not wake up at 6am and run in the parks, but just enjoy non-park activities that Disney has to offer (LaNouba, swimming etc.) I would like to stay on property for this time too but further away from the parks. Any suggestions on hotels? Thanks

Jen

One idea would be to transfer your ressies from the CR to the Poly. That way you would have a beach vacation everyday you were there, and still be on the monorail, without having to move.

To really get away from it all you might consider the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I have not personally stayed there but here great things about it.

Moving down to a moderate may be tough after being in a deluxe but both the CBR and POR are remote feeling and would be a great retreat. POR is also a boat ride away from DD and PI so it provides other non park diversions you may enjoy.

Have fun.

For you, I'd reccommend the Beach Club. Its convenience is great and the pool is perfect with kids of varying ages.

I would recommend either the Yacht or Beach Club for the second half of your trip. Although they are close to Epcot, they have a very laid back feel to them. The Yacht Club is decorated a bit more upscale, while the Beach Club is decorated in a very pastel, beachy motif (they have the same amenities, so it's personal preference as to which one you choose). They have a terrific pool area (sand bottom, HUGE pool area complete with a water slide and hot tub), which would provide that beachy feel.

How old is your daughter?:D

I second the Poly idea. Very romantic, saw many couples holding their wedding ceremonies on the bluff overlooking the SSL while we were there. Also celebrated our 15th there. Torches are lit at night all around. You can see a lot of activity at night from the beach including the CR, GR and monorail, not to mention the fireworks and Electric Water Pageant, though it is very serene. Whole resort is very nice.

i just wanted to warn you that none of the WDW 'beaches' are open for swimming anymore...which is a bummer!

I would also recommend that you consider the Poly. very nice island vacation feel while still being on the monorail line. i love the CR, it's my all time favorite but poly may give you more of what you're after overall.

have fun planning!

Thanks for all the suggestions. DD will be 6, almost 7 when we visit WDW for this trip. I like the Beach club and the Caribbean Beach resort (I think that's the name?) from the Disney web site. It would be fun to just relax and experience some other than rides and parks. Is it a big hassle to change resorts? We are not planning on renting a car, unless it's absolutely necessary.

:Pinkbounc The CBR is the most remote beach resort they have and although it is a moderate resort it is very nice. They have hammocks to relax in on the beach and the whole atmosphere is one of romance and rest. Both DD and new baby should enjoy. We went at Christmas 02' and we had the beach almost to ourselves many times.:bounce:

I AM A THIRD VOTE FOR STAYING AT THE POLY. MY FAVORITE RESORT BY FAR. VERY APPEALING TO ALL AGES. THE AMBIENCE IS SECOND TO NONE!!!! THE ROOMS ARE ONE OF THE BIGGER OUT OF ALL OF THE RESORTS, WHICH IS NICE IF YOU ARE PLANNING A FEW "LAZY" DAYS. YOU WON'T FEEL SO CONFINED BY SLEEPING IN, AND TAKING IT SLOW!!!

HAVE A GREAT TIME NO MATTER WHAT YOU DECIDE!!
