I know one is a moderate and one is a deluxe, but which do you like best? We were very happy with our stay at POFQ, is it worth it to do WL? Is it that much better to make up for the difference in price? WL would be the only deluxe we would consider.
Thanks!

My vote was for Wilderness Lodge because it's a Deluxe Resort and with that you get a lot more amenities then you would if you stayed at POFQ. So yes it's worth the difference in price that POFQ would cost.

ABSOLUTELY!! I have not stayed at the POFQ, but have at the WL and for the difference in price , I think you will see a world of difference. The whole place is stunning. Its a good price for a Deluxe in comparrison. I think you will be over joyed staying there.

:cool1: You're talking about my DW and my two favorite resorts !!!!!! But if given the choice between a deluxe and a moderate, I'd take the Wilderness Lodge every time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WL.....definately....

The only mod I have stayed at was POFQ....and I was pleasantly
surprised....
My expectations were low though.....I didn't think I would like it....

WL however is special....when you go.....you'll know;)
No other way to describe it....

If you get to go at holiday time......extra special:goodvibes

We were looking to go January 1 or 2, so I'm hoping most of the holiday decorations will still be up throughout the World. Looks like WL is strongly in the lead! I would love more input! What is it that makes you love WL? POFQ?

For me its warm, inviting, comfortable and genuine. There is a true sense of western hospitality there even though your in central Florida. Walking through those HUGE doors and seeing the massive Fireplace and wooden structures there is a different kind of Grand-ness about it and its kind of like stepping back in time. The people at the Wilderness Lodge I think "personally" are the kindess, nicest staff anywhere and they truely embrace the whole Western Hospitality to the hilt.
Check out what they are saying in the WL Thread.
We were sure we wanted to try other resorts...but I guess we wern't that sure, we just always come back--IMHO it just can't be beat for a resort feel. It reminds me of home
WELCOME HOME--thats how they greet you. and when you leave and come back they say Welcome Back everytime!!

GO FOR IT!!

We have stayed at both.

And I can without hesitation say the Wilderness Lodge gets our vote.

The Wilderness Lodge is fabulous.

Whenever a poster asks "worth the value?" or "worth the difference in price?" my radar says go with the cheaper option. Too many times we read that some one was disappointed when they get back because they felt they paid too much money for their hotel room. You said you are happy with POFQ, so that means you hit your price point correctly. Like the old saying goes, "if you have to ask..."

If you say "I'm liking the theme, amenities, and location of the WL so I'm considering to stay there rather than POFQ" then I'd say you should go with WL. Otherwise, no, its not "worth it". Its got to be about something more than money if you are going to be happy.

Just my opinion.

We stayed at POFQ this past spring and really liked it. We had considered staying at WL next spring so we made sure we visited while we were at WDW this time. We decided that it was too big and loud for us. The lobby was packed and it just didn't appeal to us. I think we really liked the small, quiet atmosphere of POFQ. We have the room booked for next year already.:yay:

Two year ago , DD(college student) and I went to the WL with my girlfriend and her 10 year old(very opinionated 10 year old)son. I kept thinking what if he hates the place, well we all walked through the door into the lobby he took one look around and said right out loud "HOLY CRAP!! What a place!" He loved it! Raved about it. It was their first time on Disney property.

So take the advice of a picky and hard to impress 10 year old and stay at the WL!

Why not try a different MOD Resort?
That's what we are doing because I don't
think it is worth the Extra Money for the Deluxe.
:sad2:

I've stayed at both resorts, and while my budget has me staying at the POFQ more than the WL I would chose the WL over the POFQ.
If it is within your budget, I would stay at the WL, it really is a great resort.
The themeing at both resorts is beautiful, but there is just something about walking into the lobby at the WL that just takes your breath away. The pool themeing is nicer than the POFQ and of course the rooms are bigger.

Very well said. I'd go with the less expensive option, and go to lunch or dinner at the WL. You can enjoy the beauty of a hotel without actually staying there (I do it all the time in Jellystone).

My only objection to WL is the way you get to MK. Otherwise, I love that place. But I love POFQ more. Keep in mind while both resorts share bus systems (POR-POFQ, WL-FW), it might take longer to get a bus for WL at the other parks than with POFQ.

If you are happy with POFQ, then I think you should stay there and save the money. If you are looking for a different experience then try out the WL.

Whether or not it is "worth it" depends on your vacation budget. But WL is by far the better hotel, IMO.

I am actually debating between the same 2 hotels myself for our trip in April 08. Pretty much if we can afford WL or get a discount rate, we'll stay there. BUT I have read in UOG that transportation from WL to the parks leaves something to be desired and I don't want transportation to frustrate me if I am paying for a delux resort.
Either way, if you do stay at POFQ, you must book a lunch or dinner at the Whispering Canyon, it a hoot!

WL is probably our favorite. AKL with Savanna view is up there too. POFQ did not do it for us, we preferr POR, just like the woodsy feeling at POR.
If you are staying more than 5 nights why not split between the 2 and decide for youself. Moving is easy once you pack/unpack, WDW moves the bags into you new room.
I use the boards for ideas and thoughts on new things to do but never have made a choice for hotel or restaurant based on these opinions alone. I don't listen to movie critics either so sometimes I don't always choose wisely but more than not anything in WDW is ok.
Have fun

I give my vote to the WL! It is the resort with the best theme IMHO, plus there are nice rooms, friendly CM's, great dining, an excellent pool area, and an AMAZING lobby! :thumbsup2:
