Okay, I want to limit myself to one character meal and can't decide between these two!

My four-year old LOVES the monorail so I though Chef M.'s would be great b/c I hear you see the monorail pass overhead? Plus I've never set foot in the CR so I wanted to check it out.

However, I love Boma's food and hear the Tusker H. b'fast is similar to theirs, plus that it is a great character b'fast. Thought it would be a good kick-off to a day at AK...

Opinions please?! :)

Chef Mickeys is the best. We ate at both last trip. We enjoyed both but CM is a little more festive.

I'm doing both this coming trip! I just couldn't choose between them! Oh, and I'm doing CRT for lunch too! I'm such a sucker!

Your a sucker? :rotfl:

This is our first time and we are doing, Akershus (dinner) Le Cellier (dinner), Crystal Palace (breakfast), Kona (lunch) Sci Fi (dinner), 1900s park fare (dinner) and Chef Mickey's (dinner). I must be a real sucker. :lmao:

Lol! Oh that was just my Character meals!
We're doing Chef Mickey dinner, Tusker House breakfast, CRT lunch, Sci-Fi dinner, Coral Reef lunch, Plaza Restaurant dinner, and one more I haven't decided on yet! Either Boma (my preference) or Cape May clambake!

Well I don't feel so bad then. I feel like since this is our first time and we are on the DDP, we might as well while the kids are still young enough to enjoy it. I even have an Ohana on our last morning that I think I might have to cancel unless we decide to get a rental car. I'm so disappointed. I'm not cancelling yet because if we get a rental car (for other reasons than just that meal) then it will be no problem to keep it.

I'd really like to do a character meal or just really good resort breakfast buffet on our last morning but we are at CSR and if we stick to the DME to get back to the airport I don't know what our options are. We have to be back by 11:15 or so. Is it even worth leaving?

Sorry, now I'm just hijacking your thread asking all my own questions.:rolleyes1

hey, can i hijack a little too? LOL

we're surprising our boys and taking them to disney after christmas. they are going to FLIP- we keep telling them that we can't afford it right now. we're first timers. :flower3:

do you think three character meals is too much? we have ADRs for Donald's safari breakfast, the Crystal Palace for lunch, and Chef Mickey's. the kids are 6, 3 and an infant who will probably be terrified.

thoughts?

(and if anyone is feeling gratuitous, where would i post our agenda for the week, to get comments from the experts on our plans and reservations?)

I definitely don't think 3 character meals is too many. I wish I had done more my first time. I'm making up for it now! You've made nice choices too, classic characters that will also be interesting to your littlest one too.

You sound like me. We're doing all three, too, plus Ohana and 50's Prime Time. Big time sucker! LOL!

Wow. Sounds like us. Ours is a complete surprise for our kids. We leave the sunday after thanksgiving. My oldest is 7 and we keep telling her we are saving money to go when she is nine. The plan is to get them packed a few days before and hide the luggage and literally scoop them out of bed for our flight and tell them on the way.

It's not even close: Chef Mickey's!! We just ate at both last week & Chef Mickey's is so much better. Chef Mickey's has a fun, open, energetic atmosphere + there's the Fab 5 (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto) + the food is good with a nice selection & the monorail does come thru the building which is kinda neat.

We will probably not go back to Tusker House. We were reluctant to get the ADR to begin with because we were not too fond of its predecessor Donalds Restaurantosaurus, but we heard some good things on the DIS so we thought Tusker House might be better. Unfortunately, IMO, it's still the same: chaotic & very rushed. Donald's visit to our table was so quick, it nearly left my head spinning - I think we literally got 15 seconds at the most with him.

We have done Chef Mickeys breakfast twice and to be honest I dont think it is that great. The food is just so-so. We are leaving Friday and are doing Tusker House for a try. I have read alot of good reviews. I felt really rushed at CM and it was so crowded that 2 of the characters even missed our table. We wont be trying it again. But alot of others seem to really like it. We actually really love Crystal Palace breakfast the best and the character interaction is great and so is the food.Yum:)

We ate breakfast at all of them last month - Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's, Boma, Tusker House, 'Ohana.

Crystal Palace has the best food, and that 8:05 AM ADR is the absolute best! We have breakfast at CP on every trip.

I have decided I am pretty much over Chef Mickey's. It is more expensive than the other character meals and the food isn't as good. And depending on where you sit you might not be able to see much of anything, much less a monorail. The nice thing is that they serve breakfast until after 11 AM so it is a good place to go after an 8 AM opening at MK.

We have been to Tusker House twice and it is VERY good. Also convenient for a late breakfast if it is an 8 AM opening day at AK.

Boma is fabulous, but we stay at AKL so it is also very convenient.

We thought the food at 'Ohana was fine, but we had HORRIBLE, and I do mean HORRIBLE character interaction. We saw ONE character in the entire time we were there. The character handler was aware of the problem and knew we were finished eating. I specifically told him we were paying the bill. He watched us get up and leave, even made eye contact with me, knowing we had missed 3 of the 4 characters. DS is 12 and we had been there before so it wasn't like it devastated him, but it made me mad.

We have done Chef Mickeys twice and Tusker House once. I think the Tusker House food beats Chef Mickeys hands down. We have had good character experiences at both. Chef Mickeys was good to do but I don't see us going back. Although the character meals are all about the kids, shouldn't the adults get something out of it too - like good tasting food. You'll get that at Tusker.

I know we are in the minority, but we didn't enjoy Chef Mickey's at all. We went there for breakfast and thought the food was mediocre and the place was very chaotic. We had been to the Crystal Palace the morning before and thought the food was so much better without the crazy atmosphere.

We are skipping Chef Mickey's this time around and trying Tusker house. We did the Sunrise Safari at the Animal Kingdom in Dec 06 and really enjoyed the breakfast served at the Tusker House after the tour. I'm hoping it will be similar this time around.
