My DS (6) and myself are vacationing this summer and so far I have ADR's at the following places. We had the DDP last summer and I loved the fact that the meals were prepaid but I didn't like being tied to my ADR's. Also liked paying only $10/day for my DS to eat. I looked at menus and crunched numbers and still can't figure it out :scared: My DN is also joining us but her parents are not. They like the DDP because it is prepaid. We will have 4 day plus tix and plan to visit the MK 2x's, DHS, AK and TL & BL. We are staying at POP for 7 nights (if that helps).

ADR's
Chef Mickey's dinner
Sci-fi lunch
Cinderella's Gala Feast dinner
Rainforest Cafe lunch
Crystal Palace lunch

I went through the menus for the places your going and found the following

DDP Cost Adult (6 nights) 227.94
DDP Cost Child (6 nights) 59.94
Gratuities on your meals 32.60
DDP Cost Including Gratuities - $320.48

OOP - all prices reflect tax and gratuities
Chef Mickey's - $56.00
Sci Fi Lunch - $37.57 ($15 entree, $5.50 Dessert and $2.19 beverage + $7.49 child's meal)
Cinderella's Dinner - $72.98
Crystal Palace Lunch - $41.06
Counter Services x 6 - $115.62
TOTAL OOP - $316.36

(CS's are $19.27 each - $8.00 sandwich, $3.50 dessert, $2.09 beverage + 4.50 kids meal)

You also have 12 snacks included with the DDP. Figure those are about $2.50-$3.00 each so that's about $33 in snack value

You would come out slightly ahead with the plan ordering like I outlined above.

If you skip CS desserts that takes $21.00 off of out of pocket expenses

If you don't think that you'll use or want 12 snacks that would also reduce your OOP expenses.

You're very close.

(I didn't include RFC because that's not part of the DDP and won't factor into the equation - you'll pay OOP either way)

Am I looking at your figures wrong? You have 6 nights worth of DDP but only 4 TS meals in the OOP section.

It's 5 TS meals, CRT is a 2 credit dining experience. I figured that she had 6 meals planned so she has 6 credits available.

Okay, I just completed my ADR's and here is my final dining itinerary.

Chef Mickey's - dinner
Sci-fi - lunch
CRT - breakfast
Ohana's - dinner
Crystal Palace - lunch
Rainforest cafe (AK) - lunch

7 nights gives me 7 TS credits...so am I coming out ahead or at least even?

Rainforest Cafe is not on the DDP, so you have only six credits accounted for. Rainforest Cafe will have to be paid for out of pocket. You need one more 1 TS restaurant in order to use all your credits.

As I said in my PP, and Aubriee confirms, RFC is not in the plan. You will pay OOP there regardless, so I am not figuring it in the equation here.

With the addition of Ohana's, and knowing how many credits you have, you now look like this

DDP Cost Adult $265.93
DDP Cost Child $69.93
Gratuities $25.67 (CRT - Gratuity is included, missed that last time)
Total DDP Cost $361.53

OOP Cost, including Tax and Gratuities $385.40
OOP Snacks - $38.50
Total OOP $423.90

Skipping Desserts would save you $30.00, but even so you'd save with the DDP.

I used the same menu assumptions as in my prior post for CS lunches and Sci Fi Lunch.

How about Planet Hollywood in DTD? My DS really wants to eat at RC although we live near one he MUST eat at the AK RC. We won't have a car and I tried to limit the ADR's to the parks we are visiting that day. With the exception of O'hana we are eating there after Blizzard Beach.

Planet Hollywood is part of the DDP.

Thank you very much Tricia 1972...your calculations really helped me to decide on the DDP. I did not factor in the costs of snacks when I ran the numbers but my DS loves the frozen lemonades and pretzels so I would definitely use (1) snack credit per day.
