Help--trying to figure out "banking points"

We are getting ready to buy in. We want to buy 200 points. We are not going to travel until June 2008. Should I wait until 2007 to buy in? Can I bank points and not use them until 2008? If I buy in now, how many points can I accumulate for my June '08 trip? I thought I understood this, but now I am second-guessing myself.

The answer will depend on the Use Year of the contract you purchase. If you get one of the SSR buildings yet to open with a December Usae Year, you would be fine. If you purchase a resale (or direct contract) with a Use Year of June or earlier you would not be able to use any current points in June, 2008.

In order to be able to use points in June, 2008 - they must have an expiration date later than the dates you wish to travel. An August Use Year would have points active from August 1 - July 31 each year and would work. If you purchased a contract with an August Use Year you would get 200 points for the 2006 Use Year. You could bank those and they could then be used thru July 31, 2008 - covering your June trip. If you purchased a June Use Year, the banked points from 2006 would expire on May 31, 2008.

Regardless what Use Year you purchase, you would have access to at least 2 years worth of points for a June, 2006 trip and with banking and borrowing you could have access to 600 points from a 200 point contract for that same trip.
