Hi all,I am a total newbie to the digital camera world.
I was wondering which camera you would choose?
I am looking at the Canon S3 and the Canon S5.

I dont know anything about digitals and i need something to learn on that not going to confuse me to death,LOL.But I dont want a cheap one either and I have been lookingg at the thread here about these cameras and I really like them alot.

So Please Please help me:confused:

Hello! I'm a total newbie too, so I don't have too much advice to offer. I got the S5 for Christmas (a gift for myself!), and so far it's been pretty easy to use. I've only shot a couple of photos in something different than "auto" mode, so I haven't gotten too creative yet. I'm not sure what the difference is between the S3 and S5, but I can tell you that I'm very happy with our choice. I'm sure there are a lot more experienced people here that can guide you much better than I can! ;)

It really depends on the price difference.

When the S5 was released it was priced about $150 over the S3, in which case it was not worth the premium(IMO).

But if the price gap is within $30 or so, may as well go with the current model.

Honestly in prints upto 8x10, it would be almost impossible to see a difference between these two cameras.

Thanks for the replies.
I think that I am going to go with the 3 to start with i can save about 75.00 or 100.00 by getting it.
I want be doing anything over an 8x10 at all.
So I am glad to hear there is not much diffrence.

I recently printed a 16x20 taken with my S3 and it looks fantastic!!

The only thing that would make me go for the S5 over the S3 is the hotshoe. But even that, to me, isn't worth the price difference.
