I have found a tool here that I've never used before and it has made the last couple of days less stressful. It is called the ignore button. See, even if I knew a post was likely to tick me off I would generally look at it. Now I've put a couple of people on that list and even if I'm tempted, I can't see what they've written! I'm back to the calm of the days before the debate board was shut down. AAAhhhhh.

I've threatened to put a few people on ignore, but never did it. What I really want is for them to kiss up to me, and give me attention. ;) I'm kind of perverse like that!:eek:

I think I am just about ready to do that Rock n Robin....thanks for the suggestion. :D There are a few here that just send me over the edge....I try to stay away from the political threads...but I keep peeking and then get all worked up! Not a fun way to DIS...

I agree, my ignore list has been added to a few times since the DB was shut down. I don't mind if people want to get into heated arguments, but I would rather be able to skip over them. And sometimes the people you want to ignore hop onto threads where you really don't expect to see them, it's easier to ignore than to see if they are being mean.

ETA - I imagine I am on a lot of peoples ignore list for the same reasons.

::yes::

I hear ya...

How does it work? Do that posters threads/replies just not show up? Do they know they are being ignored?

Curious before I push the button!:)

I've considered doing that, but I've noticed that some people who annoy me on political debate type threads, have good kind thoughts to offer on other threads, so I just ignore threads that have bothersome posts...

Okay, help me out here. I've been lookin' for that blasted "ignore" button for days!!!! Where'sitat????

Thanks, I need to calm down.

:D

No the poster does not know they are being ignored unless you tell them. Yes any thread they start will still show up (so you'll still see the titles). There will be a block that says "You are ignoring this poster (or something similiar)" in the place of where their post is. You still have the option to read it but you have to click the link - so that's where the willpower comes in ;) I did it for one poster but since the demise of the DB he has become rather mild/neutered now so I've taken him back off ignore.

Click on the profile (lower left) of the person you want to ignore. Once there scroll down to the bottom and you'll see two options - add to buddy list or ignore. Click on the ignore and you are all set.

Where is this ignore button you speak of? I'm not going to use it, I'm just curious.

(nevermind, I just saw it above)

Thanks! I found it on the UserCP as well.

***Whew!!!***
I feel better already!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Neutering always works to calm males down. It worked with my Golden anyway.;)

I only had one clod on ignore in the past (thankfully, he got the boot...took 3 shots, but seems to be gone) but since they shut the DB down, ignore is filling up. I wonder if there is a limit on number of posters one can ignore. :umbrella: It does help, even if they appear on somebdy elses thread, you just don't see much of them.

Okay, I did it...only a few folks, but ahhh....I think I'm going to like looking through DIS Boards once again. :D

I have thought about using it, but decided against it. Only because I was afraid that if they ever asked for prayers or PD that I would not see it and then later on feel terrible about the fact that I ignored them.

Right now there are only a couple of posters that I would consider. Maybe they will just go away.;)

I sure hope I am not on anyones ignore list. I try to be good!!

I've always used mine. I've had one person on there for four
years. Two others added recently but it's not because I hate
them. It's because we just don't agree on one single thing and
it's just easier for all of us. Keeps my bad posts to a minimum.
Life is good.:teeth: ::yes::

And just for the record, I wish some people would put me on
their ignore list to keep the peace like I do. really:wave:

But that eliminates part of the fun of being on the DISboards! If you don't see it, you don't know which buttons to push! ;) :o :eek: :earseek:

Seriously, I don't use Ignore at all. Tried it, but I found myself drawn like a moth to a flame to read the posts that were marked Ignored. :o So, I got rid of my list.

I may not agree with or like what other people post, but in most cases I enjoy being exposed to different ideas, perspectives, opinions. Maybe I am just way too jaded or too cynical or too full of my own sarcasm/venom :o :eek: :o to see much that really bothers me.
