Help - thinking of cancelling our trip to WDW

I have flown with my kids and they were great! I am more afraid to drive from Iowa to Florida than fly. Just last weekend we were almost in a serious wreck on the freeway because some bimbo was yaking on her cell and apparently missed her exit and slammed on her brakes (in the passing lane, no less!). The truck in front of us bearly missed rear ending her and we barely missed the truck. I have never been so scared in my life!

Our flight in Jan will be our first without car seats and the first for my youngest DS4. The only part I am nervous about is taking off/landing on ice... been there done that.. NO THANKS!

I think the fear of not being able to help our kids is common. I have dreams of the house on fire and I cant get my kids out, a tornado hits and one of my kids is sucked away... they go out to play and are gone.... There are lots of things that could happen.

We flew in Nov 2001, soon after 9/11 and there was such a change. People talking to each other, looking each other in the eyes... it was an amazing but sad change. I don't know if people are still doing that but I do think that people are more aware at least and wont keep quite if they feel, think, see or hear something wrong.

Sorry this is so long, I hope it eases your mind a bit though.

Good luck!!!

Lori

This year will be the first trip we fly with my daughter. I've already had nightmares about planes even before we planned the trip. When we went w/my 5 year old nephew who I am very close to, I was nervous during take-off as always but I tried so hard to keep my nephew excited about it that it actually helped me too.
