I have talked to the SPCA and they won't come and get the cats any more.
And if we catch something else that is against the law to trap wild animals.
Go figure. We do have an ordiance here that cats are to be on a leash or
kept in your yard just like the dogs. Going to try and get some
spray and see if that works or maybe some amonia and go from there.
Thanks again guys and TiggerandBelle thank for the stories.

I've caught coons and opossums before when I was aiming for cats. I just pick them up (in the trap) and walk over to the edge of the woods and open the door for them. They scamper off as fast as they can. Those critters don't bother me at all. Glad to know they're out there.

Check out this website.

This is the brand of trap that I have used for years. Model #1099 is specifically for "stray cats". I can't remember exactly which model I have but they're easy to use (and REuse) and cost is reasonable. I chose a decent sized trap that could be used for various things (except dogs). So far, I've only needed to trap cats. If you need bating suggestions, post back.

I have read that if you put moth ball/crystals around the border of the property, the animals will not cross them. I would think you could only expect them to work if you aren't having alot of rain to wash them down. :confused3

:teeth: I went today and got some hot pepper and moth balls to try first.
I think that we are going to get a trap but am afraid of catching skunks.
Then I wouldn't know what to do. As for the bait in traps just
thought I would buy some smelly cat food.

Now it is suppose to snow on Thurs. and that won't help any with the hot
pepper. :confused3

I wouldn't put moth balls out. The look too much like candy and could easy be picked up and eaten by a neighborhood child before his parent could react. No cat problem is worth that type of potential tragedy.

:thumbsup2 I just can't believe it no more cats so far. I put hot pepper on the soil and also put moth balls around, which I pushed into the soil. Just can't believe my good luck so far.

So far I havn't had to trap any of the kitty's and my next step will be some spray if they come back. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH. Now all I can smell are the flowers. Shirley :goodvibes

My parents used to have a problem with neighborhood cats roaming (and pooping) in their back yard. So, my dad went to the SPCA and rented a cat trap. He caught a cat pretty quickly and took it into the SPCA right away. You wouldn't believe who was working at the SPCA that day, my parent's neighbor who just happened to own that particular cat. One would hope that as an employee at the SPCA you'd be more responsible with your own pets.

So much for that plan.....
