So I booked my air one way each way as suggested last week and my fares are already lower by 80 each way..it is not a ding...just a cheaper rate on the internet...waht do I do now....call SW and ask for the lower rate and get a credit card refund?????

Yes, you can call a SW rep or you can go on line and modify your current reservation. You will not receive a credit card refund, but rather a credit towards further SW flights within a year.

OK so I called.....the nice guy walked me through it..I had to change it through the internet...when I got to the final page it said that I had a $80 credit and gave me choices as to what I wanted to do
#1 apply credit for future travel

OR

#2 request refund

so I hit the button to request a refund and it took it.....think I will get it? The guy on the phone told me that I could only get credit towards future travel that had to be used within 1 year of original ticket issue date...

there were initially 2 boxes and my info came up in the refundable option category even though my ticket are listed as non-refundable...chosing something from the non-refundable category was not an option - the only choice there BTW was apply as credit towards future travel......

and now.....on my email confirmation it says credit requested of $80 (each way BTE) to be applied to credit card # ......

they did say non-refundable initially.....

Southwest has always been very good with refunds and credits. I've never had a problem. :)

I don't think you'll get the refund - I think it's a bug in their system. I had the same thing happen to me, and I thought I might get the entire amount refunded, but when I checked the funds under the confirmation number, it showed up there instead of being refunded. Go to "View Ticketless Travel Funds" at https://www.southwest.com/cgi-bin/exchangePnrEntry and enter your confirmation #. If it shows up there with funds, then they're not refunding you. If it doesn't show up, then perhaps they really are making a refund! :goodvibes

...nothing there for travel funds.....nothing on my credit card statement yet either.....should the credit have been instantly available on the southwest site?? I know the credit card can take a few days....

i thought I read somewhere that if you don't change anything about your flight...number, time, date, people etc and it is just that the ticket got cheaper that they would refund you the difference....

We recieved credits on southwest a couple of years ago. A little known bit of info is that if you cant use the credits withi a year you can have them extended for 6 more months. this has to be done at an airport at the southwest counter. i didnt know this until i rushed to plan another trip. i had 4 complete flights. hope this helps

BTW, that 6-month extension can be requested by mail; no more need to go to an airport. A call to SW CS will get you that address. :thumbsup2
