Help, store clerk forgot to remove security tag !!!

I did a ton of Christmas shopping yesterday in about 2 hours away from my house and i was wrapping the stuff I bought hubby and found that the clerk failed to remove the plastic security tag from a shirt. It is not the ink one just the regular plastic kind. Now going back is not an option since the store is like over 2 hours away and there is no store in my area.

Any one know what i can do? Is there a way to remove this thing? Ahhhhh. Any help would be appreciated

You could try pliers, but since it is for your DH, you could wrap it and explain to him what happened, and during the next time you are in that area, bring the item along with your reciept so they can remove it for you at customer service. I had that happen to me once with a stroller and my husband couldn't remove it without ruining it, so we didn't take the chance.

I would not risk removing it yourself.

Pliers will do it just fine, just be careful. Hold the end of the pin with the pliers and hit the tag with a hammer, it'll end up loose enough that you can just pull it off.

A big ol'hammer should do the trick too.

This just happened to me last month. I took a hammer to the plastic part until the insides were exposed. Then I could see the piece that went around the pin. On mine, it was a little 'c' shaped clamp thing that was easily pried off the pin with a screw driver and voila...the pin was free to be pulled out.

Good Luck! I'm glad it wasn't an ink one. The above method certainly wouldn't work on that type!

This just happened to me while I was getting ready to wrap DH's gifts. But this one is one of the ones that contain ink. It ticks me off that I have to go all the way back to the store just to get it removed....argh!

I would go to a closer store, any clothing store near you, with the shirt and your receipt and tell them what happened and see if they will take it off for you.
