Help - sticky bump question

Can't seem to find the answers to these two questions - there are so many threads I think I could be here until we leave in 20 days and not read everything.........so here goes:

1. What is a sticky?

2. What is a "bump."

I think a sticky is a thread that will remain at the top of each page no matter what page you're on. i.e. there are about 5 sticky threads that appear at the top of page 1, if you click on page 2 those same 5 sticky threads will appear at the top of that page too.

I think a bump is a simple post that can be used to move a thread "up" on the list. Each post is placed in time order at the top of page 1, because those on page 1 will more likely be read/answered, as they start to age and slip onto page 2, 3, 4, etc. someone will "bump" it back to page 1 to keep it alive a little longer.

all bumping is really is replying to a thread so it ends up back on top of the page...
