Help! Staying for 17 days, but we can only get a 10 day pass... Boo! Plus MNSSHP question

Heheh yeah, once I explained that we'd only need one card for the 3 of us, we were debating why you'd even need more than one TiW card if the discount applied to everyone at the table. My only ideas were if you wanted to dine separately, or if you had a really large group that was over the limit of one card (what is it, 9 people in a party?).

You have to have the person whose name is on the card be present with their id to get the discount. If you can't meet that requirement, then you want to investigate more cards. Personally don't get the additional cards unless you find yourself in the park or springs needing another card and it's worth the cost. your AP will still get you 10% off and while the card sounds low cost, it's only 10% more in savings so it takes a few thousand dollars of food vs having an AP to break that card even. Of course there is some places to dine you can break it even in 1 meal with a family of 6.

You get up to 10 including the TiW holder. However if you have the spouse/family add on card then you get up to 20 people (but both people with both cards needs to be there). Not needed for all but sometimes you just need to have the whole family with you on vacation :)

Also any time you hand disney money, make sure the words do you offer "list your discounts here" discounts. They are not automatic and where you can get them change a lot. you'll hear sorry we don't a lot but you'll hear yes we do a lot also. don't forget that not everything is owned and operated by disney. Check who owns the restuarants and coffee shops you plan to spot at, they might have their own rewards or discount card you can get for free online to get even more money off..

Ahh, I see! If we had a big group that would make tons of sense! Thanks for your help, so good to know! :)

Didn't get time to read the thread entirely, but the title caught my eye. We were in the EXACT same situation last summer. 17 day trip, 10 day pass. A few days in, we did the math and the annual pass just made sense. We committed that we'd be able to take several more trips during our AP year and it has more than paid for itself!!

.

When I look at AP discounts, it specifically excludes alcoholic beverages. Looks like the TIW card INCLUDES those, also some resort lounges and some resort food courts. With the price of alcoholic drinks, could make a difference. TIW also is good at more park locations - 3 more restaurants in HS, different ones at AK, 6 at MK (AP page doesn't list any there?) A lot to consider.

could make a difference.

yeah, everyone needs to the do the math to see if it would make a different on where they plan to dine and what they plan to order.

I think it comes out to something like $1500 on food/drink that can be discounted and TiW breaks even. But that's not counting that you probably had 10% off prior to getting the card so you only got about 1/2 the card paid off with additional discounts meaning you just gave disney extra money. this of course depends on where you eat and used the TiW, some places only take TiW, others don't have any discount. Florida residents pay more for TiW so those numbers go up.

And the kicker is, you need to remember you have it. Nothing is automatic so if you forget to use the card or thought a place didn't take it, you lost out of saving money. And then there's the forced 18% gratuity for any size dining party. I don't tell people I have TiW until I'm ready to ask for the bill. If the service and food wasn't great I may only use my AP discount and go very low on the tip (saving money vs the forced 18% and higher discount).

And then there is the Tables in Wonderland events that you must have the card to attend. So far this year, they've been wonderful!
