Hi Gang

My wife and I took our 3 year old son to WDW last June and we stayed at the WDW Swan. We stayed in a club level room (yes club level) for $179 US per night and stayed for a week and a half! Our room was resently renovated at the time and was spotless. The "Heavenly" bed was really nice too. All 3 of us had an amazing time and can't wait to go back again. My son still talks about "Mickey's House". :-)

I'm trying to figure out how we can stay at the Contemporary or the Polynesian resort to get the "real" Disney feel. The problem is the cost to stay. For both places we'd be looking at $250-350 US per night. Unfortunately with the exchange that works out to be $400-500 Canadian per night. Ouch! I'd love to take my wife and son to a tower room at the Contemporary but that would be around $700 Cdn per night.

Does anyone have any ideas/advice/suggestions on how we could stay at the Contemporary or the Polynesian resort. I'd love to stay at the Contemporary as it totally reminds me of when I was a kid. That A-frame resort with the monorail running through it is SO cool. PLEASE help us BIG Disney fans!!!!

Andy

Check out the Poly. The pictures on the internet don't do the place justice. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is warm with the beach just steps away. The rooms are large. Ohana's and Konas are great!!!!! The snack bar (1st floor) $ not bad/good selection. Lay on the beach or float in the pool while watching the fire works. Just can't put into words tha feel of the resort.

Depending on when you are planning to go, if you purchase annual passes, the discount associated with them could be substantial (up to 40% off rack) especially at the poly. You do not need to purchase the annual pass until you actually check in. LOL. ::MickeyMo

Always check mousesavers.com for codes! I'm staying at the Contemporary (leaving tomorrow!:jester: )for 149.00 per night. I could have stayed at the Poly for 199.00 per night. So deals are out there you just must know where to look.;)

With the AP holder code for the summer the rate I got at the CR standard view (wing room) was $159/night plus tax. So that probably is in your price range. You would need to purchase an AP for one of you which will run a bit more than, for example, a 7 day park hopper pass. It might be worth it for the room discount though. Only one person in the party needs the AP - not everyone. You do not have to have the AP in hand to book a room at the AP rate but you do have to have the AP when you arrive - or at least the voucher showing you've paid for it but not activiated it yet.

Make sure to write a full report when you return! Have fun!

We just got back from the CR two weeks ago. We stayed at the Poly two years ago and loved. CR is nice, but it is like a big city hotel. The pool iis okay but nothing special and has very little shade. They Poly is more relaxing and has a great zero entry pool. The rooms are huge and we love the layout. We do not like having to walk through a lobby to get from our room to the pool. We also stayed at YC and loved it (great service, beautiful rooms, fab pool...), but the Poly is our resort from now on.

As for the cost, I doubt you will match the rates you got at the Swan. That will be very hard to beat. Keep your eyes opened for codes or AP rates. mousesavers.com has historic rates for the resorts. Check it out and see what the prices are for when you want to go. Good luck.
