Help! Spiderman closing for rehab?

Spiderman is one of my family's all-time favorite rides. We're going to IOA the first week in October with 5 "newbies" in our group of 11. We've talked up Spiderman big time. Now I read that it's due to close sometime soon for rehab. How soon? Will it be open in October?

I haven't read anything saying the attraction was closing in the near future. I think the updates will be done when the park is closed to keep possible closures to a minimum. That's just a guess though.

Can you link where you saw Spiderman is actually closing?

I read on the Orlando Informer's Wizarding World of Harry Potter Touring Plan
Version 3.5 that it was going to be closed sometime at the end of the summer for the rehab.

Jimmy Neutron is closing the end of summer. I haven't heard anywhere about Spiderman closing.

It just said "Please note that Spider-Man is closing sometime at the end of the summer for a major refurbishment". Though I've read about the proposed updates to Spider-Man, this is the only place I've read about a possible closing date.

The proposed upgrades are supposed to be happening in 2012, so that certainly is bizzare.

I've found a Feb. 2011 posting on Screamscape asying the ride will close down in "8 to 10 months" for rehab. That would put it closing somewhere in the Oct. to Dec. range. I hope it's after our trip the week of Oct. 1st!

Reading this just made me sick. Spiderman is like our favorite ride at IoA and we can't wait to take the kiddos on it. It *has* to be open in November. It just HAS TO

That was a rumour about replacing projection cameras. Apparently new cameras have already been installed so who knows what kind of truth there was, if any, to that rumour.

Other rumours are that the ride may not need to be shut down and any renos will be done at night.

I think if extensive shut downs were imminent, word would be out.

It would be nice if Orlando Informer would give some reason for their statement.

This is what I found on Orlando Informer posted on July 14. Sounds like speculation.

As of right now the only two major attractions scheduled to be closed in the near future are Jimmy Neutron, as you mentioned, and The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man.

Universal has said that Jimmy Neutron will be open periodically throughout the summer, with its very last day of operation set for August 18. Unfortunately, they do not publicly announce the dates it will be open or the dates it will be closed during it’s final two months. Jimmy Neutron is to be replaced by a new attraction based on the animated film Despicable Me.

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is the second attraction scheduled for shut-down, as it will be going through a major overhaul and upgrade. As of this time Universal has not announced its official last day. I speculate that it will probably come down after the Labor Day weekend (September 5th).

That’s about it. The only other attraction that may or may not be closed is the Fear Factor Live show at Universal Studios Florida. It was shuttered for much of 2010, but has been running fairly consistently during the Spring Break and Summer of 2011. Again, Universal doesn’t provide any sort of open or close schedule for the show.

I hope that both Jimmy N and Spidey aren't both torn down/shut down when we're there...I'll have one very sad Autistic boy!

Well if your ticker in your signature is when you are going, I hate to tell you Jimmy N will be closed. The last day of operation is either August 17-18. No one know yet about Spidy.

I'm confused why Universal does not come out with dates of refurbs like Disney does. Not that knowing when something is closed will change my plans but at least there will be no disappointments when we get there. I was all prepared to not ride Space Mountain while they were working on that ride which happens to be my daughters favorite. I hope Spidy will be open the first week in October because this one looks right up her alley!

In the last Universal e-passport, the closing of Jimmy Neutron was mentioned. It said:

No mention of Spidey.
