Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Post #2 gives lots of mobility information, including where to rent Special Needs Strollers.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

Disney does not rent (the American term for 'hire') special needs strollers, but there are some off-site places that do.
If you check into the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board, you will find the information you are looking for in post #2. The first information in that thread is about wheelchairs and down toward the end of that thread, there is some information about Special Needs Strollers.
You might also want to look into transport chairs. Those are like wheelchairs, but they have 4 small wheels and can't be propelled by the person who is riding in it. Those can be rented from some of the wheelchair rental places listed in that thread.

And if you currently use a stroller, I would definitely recommend that you bring it with you....my son really needed his stroller and having a familiar one really helped! :) Especially since we needed it in the airport to start with...

p.s. He is 13 years old now...

We just got back from our trip on Sunday and we have an autistic son who is 11 and weights about 100 lbs. We rented from Orlando stroller rental and was very happy with the stroller. My son was very comfortable, the canopy was really big so he could hide when overstimulated and was easy to push. We did have some issues with rides like tower of terror where the lines are not very wide because the stroller is so big but other than that it was terrific. I am going to try to post some pictures to this thread so you can see how large it was but since I haven't posted pictures yet I am not sure it is going to work. If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me and I will get you the phone number. Shannon was great to work with.

We have visited Florida many times with Joshua, whilst he is mobile he cannot walk long distances.

Have always taken our own stroller but now have a children's size wheelchair we bring with us, provided free of charge from Mobility - just a thought.

NB - we go on the 7th April :)
