Help Solve a Wedding Debate

Let's be honest, that is how it goes... :lmao:

I'm glad to get a man's perspective! Thanks so much!!

I will confess that I don't see why so many people get their undies in a bunch over this. :confused3 I've been in a couple of weddings (aside from my own), as has my wife, and, aside from a couple pictures from her sisters' weddings, it's not as though we look at pics from weddings past on anything resembling a frequent basis. Really, five years from now, is it going to be such a huge deal that you attended a wedding where the bridal party was not attired in a manner that you thought was appropriate, as it pertains to color choice?

Orange works. I mean, in Winter everything is so pale and cold so I think that the warmth of orange is needed.

First off---I think it is beyond silly to tell a bride she has to match colors to the season. I never heard of such a thing.

Secondly--I think the inspiration pallet is truly lovely--and i would not generally think of myself as very fond of the color orange. I think she should go with what she likes.

Why is this even a debate? The happy couple should say "thank you for your input" and go on with their planning.

I watch Sarah's house on HGTV and she had a holiday special this past Christmas. She used this orange!

The color isn't a problem. It is how it is used. Not that she asked, but it is possible to invoke a holiday-ish vibe without the red and green. Many of the design holiday specials were all about a non-traditional holiday palette.

I say, let the bride be on her color. Nothing says she must have holiday theme. That guy that fixes brides wedding plans would scoff at those suggestions anyway.

the bride come first. no one selse should matter. everyonw should keep there mouths closed and do what she wants. her day ....period.

Exactly. Good grief, there are people wanting to invite ex-relations, and they're getting worked up over the color she picked?? I'm personally not a fan of orange, but I like the things she's picked, and I'm glad to see another color besides blue, pink and purple for a wedding.

I LOVE it!! I think it's gorgous, no matter what month the wedding is! It's classy, simple, and elegant with a little bit of fun thrown in!
LOVE LOVE LOVE it!! I wish I could go to that wedding!! :thumbsup2

When people heard that we were getting married Dec 21st, EVERY SINGLE one said...Ah, a Christmas wedding. Red and green will look so nice.

Boy were they all WRONG!!!

And seeing as for my entire life, making sure that my Christmas Eve birthday had it's own identity from christmas - b-day gifts never wrapped in cristmas paper and cakes with no christmas colors what so ever on it - you would think they would know that I would never combine the two.

Needless to say, our color was purple.

If your friend want orange and can find it in a shade she likes, tell her to go for it.

:rotfl: People thought we'd have Christmas colors too because we were married the day after Christmas and our color was sort of lavender:

ETA- OP, the bride can have whatever color she wants. It is no longer a seasonal thing.

Oranges grow in Florida, so wouldn't orange be appropriate since the wedding is in Florida? :confused3

I agree with Thumper_Man...Isn't she technically going with a theme, a Florida Theme? :)

All kidding aside, I think that whatever she wants is what she should get. She is the bride, and no one else is going to remember this day like she will. Yes, i believe she should take into consideration what the color will look like on her bridesmaids, etc. But I am sure that when i got married, my MOH did not want to be stuck in a burgundy dress...or any dress for that matter, she stuck it out for me because she loved me and was willing to do it for me. I think the same will go for your friend. We've all been there, walking down the aisle for a friends wedding in the peach, or pink, or salmon colored taffeta dress or whatever, it may not have fit us perfectly or looked terrific on us, but to be honest, no one should be paying attention to anyone but the Bride and Groom. :upsidedow

She can have any color she wants, but I know churches and banquet halls often have christmas decorations up at that time of year and for pictures it may clash.

I LOVE it, and to heck with the people who disagree - it's the bride's wedding and she should be able to choose whatever colors she likes without having to worry about anyone else's opinion (other than DH, if he is one of those awesome guys who choose to have an opinion).

Orange is not really my favorite color but a bride should be able to have whatever color she wants for her wedding. :thumbsup2

She's the bride! The mothers and the bridesmaids have no say! She should have what ever colors and whatever she wants for her wedding. And they should support that. I was married in May and I had "winter wonderland" colors: silver, white and blue with snowflake ice carvings and branch centerpieces with "snow" on them. It was beautiful and what I wanted and if anyone batted an eye, so be it!

Personally, I love her inspiration board! I love orange. I think she should do it.

I love the inspiration board. Beautiful.

She can have any color she wants!!

I just got married this past October. Here is my inspiration board.

I would think that this is the one event were the bride gets to pick. If she likes orange, she should get orange. I would hate to see anyone compromise on the color that is a big part of the wedding.

I got married and I had a Christmas wedding but my colors were off white and gold. It was elegant and in 1993 people didn't expect it.
