My friend got SoA before deciding to go on the Deluxe dining plan. However, the CM's have told him that they would have to cancel the ADR, before they could take it off his charge and he is nervous he could lose his reservation.

Has anyone had this situation before?

How can he be not charged on his CC and be sure to keep his ADR?

Is this something he can fix when he is at Disney or can he do it before he gets there?

sorry for all the questions, but I can not imagine that he is the first person to have done this, there must be a way to fix this situation...TIA for any help you can give us.:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I did the same thing at CRT. I had paid for it before I added DxDP. When seated, we told the waitress. She used dining credits to pay for it, and said the money would be refunded to my CC within a couple of weeks. I haven't checked it yet, since we've only been back a week, but she acted like it happened all the time. I'm sure the same would be true for SoA!

****Update - I paid my cc bill this am, and it had been credited back! Very fast and problem free!

SoA is considered a Dinner Show vs. CRT which is character dining. I'm not sure if the DDP is valid with the shows.

He'll want to call Disney Dining and they can tell him for sure.

The DDP is valid for the dinner shows. They are two credits though.

Yes, the DDP is valid with dinner shows (2 DDP credits per person) and yes, the money can be refunded at the time they arrive and pick up the tickets; at that time they can clarify that they wish to pay with dining credits. I think for dinner shows you must do this at the time you pick up the tickets, not wait until you are seated. At CRT there are no tickets so you do that when you are seated.

If your friend doesn't want to wait until arrival, the only thing he can do is cancel the existing reservation. He may want to have a phone agent check for availability for a new reservation before cancelling anything, or check for availability online, before he decides to do this.
