Trying not to go bats***. DH insisted that he'd be able to drive home after the snow fall. Now, he's not so confident. I don't dislike my in-laws, but I loathe staying with them for a number of reasons. and I'm PMSing. Ugh.

It's Christmas! Just try to make the best of it, as hard as it may be. One of these days you will look back and laugh about it. ;)

My sympathies to your ILs. :rotfl2:

Just kidding. Hope you get out of there soon, but please put your safety first.

One word: CHOCOLATE :cool1: ... Chocolate can help you get through anything ;) ... :)

Any way you can safely move to a hotel? Sounds like it would be worth every penny ;)

I know exactly how you feel. I would go NUTS if I was stuck with the IL's.. before the weather gets bad.. Go out and get some NIPS from the liquor store.. maybe some Baileys for your coffee.. or some brandy that you can swig when you need a little BUZZ.. HAHA:rotfl2:

LOL about the in-laws recovering! I think they'll be alright. =p

I would LOVE some adult beverages right now, but my FIL is a Baptist minister and they do not allow alcohol in their house. Chocolate, however, is acceptable!

We still might be able to get out this afternoon, but I kinda doubt it. The south can't handle a foot of snow.

You are in NC? We got 5" of snow between yesterday and today. The roads are clear (including my very backwoods road), the sun is shining and everything is already melting. I say make a run for it!

PS, one year DH made us drive in a blizzard on Christmas night so we wouldn't have to spend the night at my parents house. I was LIVID at him for it. It was beyond dangerous (even for Long Island standards, where we were at the time) and we made it home only by the grace of God. Just because he doesn't particularly care for sleeping in a strange bed and isn't a huge fan of my mom.

OP, you must be in WNC. I'm in Asheville and we got almost a foot and some parts around here got over a foot of snow. Keep safe and eat all the chocolate you want!

If it were me and I was stuck at my ILs, I'd hike down the mountain they live on and call a cab to get me out of town!!!!!! There is NO way I'd stay with them voluntarily or otherwise!!

we got about 5 to 6" in Chapel Hill...

Now to the OP: this is why you need to plan ahead and have a stash of adult beverages in the car (just in case).

suck it up... it is what it is...

holy crap! I just said 2 phrases I HATE!!!!!!

how about a deck of cards and a good game of spoons or UNO?
Humor your MIL and ask to look at old photos...

Best of luck, it WILL end! I would go CRAZY!!!!!!

sadly, i'd much rather be stuck at the in-laws, than with my family. good luck, OP.

Just remind yourself that these are the people who raised the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with. They have to have some wonderful qualities, look harder and be nice to them for DH's sake. You will benefit in the long run.
