Help Sick Little Ones?

For the poster who was advised to give benadryl for a flight, please make sure you try benedryl at home first, to see what kind of reaction your child has to it. My son broke out in a horrible head to toe rash from sunscreen last summer at Disney, and his ped told me to give him benedryl. I did, and he was so incredibly hyper for the next 36 hours. Some children get hyper from it, instead of sleepy, and you wouldn't want to have a hyper baby on a plane.

Thanks for the advice about getting your child checked out before you go. We are going on our first family vacation. DD will be 32 months old.. I will have her checked out before we go!You guys are great! I don't know how I could plan a trip to wdw without you!

Well, we are supposed to leave on Thursday and my DS (5 yo) came down with a cold last night. He doesn't have a fever, he is just a little warm. I am trying to decide if I should cancel today or wait until tomorrow to see how he is. Of course the first thing he said to me this morning was "Are we going to Disney today?" I am so torn over what to do.

Personally, I would still go.... I know that the person who posted earlier about not spreading our sick germs around WDW would disagree, but with kids, you never know what will come up!!

I once had a trip to visit family planned. DD (about 7 at the time) had been sick, but then feeling better the night before, so we decided to go. I didn't bother to check her again in the morning and we were up and out of the house by about 7am... stopped for bkfst on the drive and noticed she didn't have much appetite, but again didn't worry much about it. Eight hour drive later, got to SIL's house and discovered DD's temp was 102!! BUT.... by morning temp was gone and never returned. Glad I didn't cancel our plans. We just quarantined her from her cousins as best we could that first evening and everything was fine after that. Now I know... it could have just as easily gone the other way and ended up with a very sick child on an 8 hour ride home again!!

But the point is.... if you can cancel today and he winds up fine tomorrow, everyone will be disappointed. If it is just a bit of a cold, no fever, chills, vomitting, diarrhea.... I wouldn't let that stop me. Of course, the nay-sayers will tell you it could turn into flu or pneumonia.... but it could also just disappear, never to return.

NO ONE KNOWS YOUR KIDS LIKE YOU... let your "Mom Instinct" make the decision! GOOD LUCK!!!...........P:Pinkbounc :bounce: :smooth:
