Help Should we use the plan?

We are going to WDW for the first time the week before Christmas and are wondering if it is a good deal to do the DDP. There are 2 adults and ds7 and dd5. We are staying at SSR through my inlaws DVC points.

We are planning on eating breakfast in our room and taking snacks with us. My kids are very light eaters. We are staying for 7 days but only doing parks for 5. So is it worth the $700 for the week for the ddp or would we be better just paying as we go. I am also not sure about planning this far in advance where we want to eat and when because I am unsure of how tired etc. the kids will be and not sure if we want to be tied to ressies. We aren't real interested in character meals either. We just did the 10 day disney med. cruise last summer and the characters were at every meal. So I think we can get away with not eating with them this time. On the other hand it sure would be nice to just have the whole eating thing taken care of before we go. Thanks for all your input!!:confused3

If you aren't planning many TS restaurants and you don't want to do very many character meals then paying out of pocket may be a better deal.

I believe that you are going during holiday pricing so you might want to get DDP.

I would look at the restaurants and decide what ones you would want to go to and price them out.

The most TS restaurants I did was the first trip and I did one breakfast (CRT), lunch (Garden Grill) and dinner (Chef Mickeys).

This year we have free dining plan so we have 13 for our 14 night stay.

If you decide to pay out of pocket- lunch is cheaper than dinner.

We will be in WDW from December 12 - 21 and we have purchased the dining plan. If you plan on eating at least one sit-down meal per day (whether it be character meals or not) then yes, the dining plan will save you money. The holiday pricing for meals begins on Dec. 14 so having the dining plan will save us an extra (on average) $4.00 per adult per day and $2.00 per child per day. As far as not knowing if the children will be tired and when to plan the meals. You can make some breakfast ADRs that will count as TS. You do need to call ASAP and make some dining reservations as your 180 day window opened up at least 10 days ago and the ADRs for your week will be going fast! Hope this info helps!
