Help! Should we bring umbrellas and rain ponchos???

Definitely bring ponchos every day in June for us and using a baseball cap under the hood helps a little too to keep it out of your face. We may also bring a umbrella for some situations that folds up to about 8 inches long but opens to normal size.

Well I guess there has to be one in every crowd :( ....

We took pancho's on our last trip. Put them on once but they were SO hot we immediately went in and bought the small mickey mouse umbrella's. Imagine that it's 95+ outside and your wearing a sheet of plastic around your body :( :( These are small enough to fit in the pocket of our cargo shorts so carrying them was no prob.

(We were very careful not to poke anyone-remember the park will clear out durring a rain storm)

My vote is for the umbrellas

I'm with you on this- we bring both ponchos and umbrellas (I got some really small sized ones at the Dollar store- they are not a pain to put in the backpack). Ponchos are all well and good if the weather isn't too hot, but I like umbrellas better. I wouldn't use one in a huge crowd, but I've never been in one in the rain. Most people tend to run for cover in the rain, so there aren't big mobs I have to worry about poking in the eyes out in the streets. I just don't like the feeling of the hot poncho wrapped around me or the hood over my head (and the rain drumming on it).

I agree, ponchos, no umbrellas. To paraphrase the "Christmas Story"... "you'll poke your eye out...":rotfl2:

Does anyone know if they make ponchos for 2 year olds??

I found "kid" ones at the dolloar spot in Target last year - but havent been able to this year... (knew I should have gotten more last year!)

Other years we've just taken an adult one and cut the bottom 3/4 off....its big around but it works fine.

I guess I have to go against the "flow."

Because I go at a slower time of year (not crowded), I go with a combo of lightweight rain slicker and small umbrella. [I'm very careful not to use the umbrella in crowded areas.] I also bring a few disposable ponchos, but find I like the lightweight rain slicker instead. Less hot than a poncho, and I can take it on and off more easily.

Ponchos. Our reason is the ponchos keep us dry, and umbrellas just add to what we have to carry, which we try to minimze.
