I bought a Tink bathing suit from the Disney store for DD last summer (it was clearance, and I was shopping for this summer's trip). I put everything I bought in a bin in my closet. Well, today I took the bin out and started to go through it. That's when dd noticed the security tag still on the suit. I called the store and they told me that they stopped using the security tags a year ago (I don't know why), and don't have a way to get it off. It isn't an ink tag. DH isn't home yet, so I haven't asked if he thinks he can get it off. What do you think? Is it possible to cut through the pin???

I notice by your ticker that you're heading to WDW next month. Maybe you can get the security tag taken off there.

Last summer, I had to bring back both a purse and a pair of pants to the gift shop at the Contemporary. I had purchased them there 6 months before & did not notice till several weeks later when we were home that the security tags were still on.

At home, I had tried several places to get the tags taken off (even from a friend who works at J Crew) and could not find anyone who had a tool to remove them.

The cm at the CR gift shop removed the tags, no questions asked.

Good luck!!

some of them have magnetic releases. It you have a heavy duty magnet around you might want to try putting one side to that and then hopefully the other side will come off. :confused3

Thank you for your tips...I really appreciate them! However, DH came home and got it off for me. He came up with the magnet idea, as well. When that didn't work, he went to his handy pliers. Worked like a charm!

It makes me wonder though.......if so many of us are leaving the store and the alarm isn't going off, why do they even bother putting them on the clothes to begin with :confused3?

Thanks again! I knew I could count on the DIS!

Just like people putting fake security stickers in the window of their house, sometimes the suggestion that there might be some sort of security deters those who might have a temporary lapse of judgment.

ok security tags! I have worked retail for years and the thieves manage to get them off all the time. Some things they have used in the past are: rubber bands, paper clips(metal) & teeth. We I worked for the children's place we tried the rubber band and it worked. You keep wrapping the band around the pin til it pops apart. We also saw a customer use her teeth to pull it apart!!! The metal paper clip, we never got that one. If you can't get if off try another store to see it they will remove it. Good luck
