Help: Resort Hop on travel day

yes Disney Springs tends to be lighter in the mornings, especially during weekdays. You probably will be exhausted from the flight. If the room is indeed ready, I'd take an hour break/nap then go walk around DS then go resort hopping via the MK/Epcot resort monorail loop or do these vice versa. After that you'll be totally exhausted!!!

For us it depends on the length of the trip. If it's a shorter trip we typically would head to a park first thing. During our longer (11-12 night) summer trips, we typically hit the pool on arrival day. Maybe go to dinner or a park later. We've had good luck with our room being ready on arrival (6:30-7AM) but always pack a bag with our pool things just in case it's not.

It's probably just a coincidence, but I've found that whenever I've done online check-in, our room is ready between 10AM-1PM, and when I don't do online check-in, it's been ready as soon as we checked in at the front desk.

Honestly I would just go to a park. I always think it sounds reasonable to NOT go to a park on arrival day but then once you get there it is hard to NOT be excited about being at WDW which makes me want to hit a park! Especially with how early you are arriving, you can basically do a full day at a park.

That sure sounds like a good idea - I'll see how much it is to add a park day :)

When the text came that our room was ready we'd hop a bus and head back for unpacking and swimming. We'd have a fairly early dinner (DS14 and DS6 would get nuggets and fries from Mcdonalds (we always drive so we have a car), DW would get vegetable soup from the food court (she loves it so much she has asked me to leave OKW and go to the All Stars to get it) and I would probably grab a slice of pizza. Then it would be an early night to get ready for the next day.

Thank you for the warm welcome @mickeyfanachey1999! Getting back to the hotel to rest is definitely in our plan. BTW, how far is ASM from McDonald's. Is it within walking distance?

With your early arrival, I'd take the bus to the MK and ride the monorail to resort hop from there. You can even make take the boat to WL from CR to add an extra resort. ::yes:: Have lunch at one of the resorts or bus to Disney Springs. There is SO much to see/do there you could spend the entire day at DS. I'm sure the "exhaustion" will hit early afternoon though and your room should be ready by then. Take a short nap, explore your resort, have dinner and hit the sack for a good nights rest. ENJOY YOUR TRIP! :tink:

I think this just sounds perfect!! Thanks again @goopysolelady :)

Thanks @Shellyb84. Do you think it's because of the room preferences which you can select online restrict the room location - and delayed the check-in?

Not sure on distance but definitely not within walking distance and not exactly "safe" to walk regardless. Not sure if you're at All Star Music or All Star Movies but we really liked the options available at the All Star Music food court. A great variety and the food was REALLY good. They do have burgers and fries so McDonald's really isn't necessary. :tink:

With the new ticket pricing, with whichever type of tickets you have - older or new - it's $21 for each person to add on one more ticket entitlement.

Oh, definitely eat at the food court not McDonald's!! We have stayed at both All Star Music and All Star Movies and the food is good at both. If you want basic stuff like hamburgers and chicken strips they will have that but they also have a wide variety of other things (plus lots of yummy treats!).

It would be awesome if we could get into our room earlier. I read somewhere that the resort would be able to notify via mobile when our room is ready - is that true?

They *can*. Doesn't mean it WILL happen. Until our trip last week we had never once gotten a room ready text. And we got one this trip but only after we had *also* gone to the front desk. The guy at the front desk got all sorts of info from me that should have been sent through already with online checkin, but he said it wasn't.

If your family gets sleep and feels human enough to hit a park, do it. Later in the trip add the extra day to the tickets.

If the kids get sleep but the adults don't, and if you go to the pool, have an adult IN the pool to make sure they don't both fall asleep in lounge chairs. :)
