My husband and I wanted to renew our vows at Disney with just the two of us and my 8 year old daughter, no guests, but the prices are so high for a vow renewal.

Can anyone give me advise on a nice but very inexpensive way to do this?

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge.

Thank you all for your help!

You might want to check into doing the ceremony at one of the non-Disney hotels on Disney property, like the Swan & Dolphin. They are much less expensive than Disney.

Good luck!

I've heard of people doing the renewal privately in their room. They arrange the officiant themselves. Then you can get a beautiful cake from Publix (see their website for wedding cake photos). There is a Publix close by. Then you can book a lovely reception dinner at a resort restaurant. If you don't want to do the cake with Publix, you can have the resort restaurant do a tiered cake if you want.

Now that is a cool idea and something we can afford.

Do you know a good place to take pictures in the Wilderness Lodge? We've never stayed there before.

Thanks!

The whole resort is beautiful. You could take pictures in the lobby or out by the geyser. The area by the Villas is quiet and picturesque. Artist Point would be lovely for dinner. We are having a luncheon at the Grand Floridian Cafe, because it is lovely and quiet. As an aside you could get a Mickey Minnie cake topper from Disneystore.com and turn your Publix cake into an Escape Wedding Package Cake! Memories by Betsy is also someone to talk to. For my birthday this year she is putting together a basket with everything I need for a party (plates, forks, napkins, streemers, balloons, etc.) I'm sure she would round up any decorations you might need. She charges $28 plus the sticker price of the merchandise. Find her online. When is your renewal? Have fun!

Great ideas. I really like the Mickey/Minnie cake topper.
I'll have to ask the hotel if they have a photographer there to take pictures.

Are you wearing your wedding attire?

I also don't think they'd allow a PhotoPass photog to come into your room to get photos. There would be a liability there. And they'd definitely want to refer you to DFTW.

If you just want a photog from Disney to come and take photos of you around the resort, they can certainly do that, but I think it would be more cost-effective to go with an outside photog.

Hope that helps!

Oh no, I want it somewhere in at the lodge itself if I can not in my room. Yes, I will have on a nice dress. When we went last year my husband and I had our pictures taken at the Polynesian Resort by their indoor fountain. I don't know if they do that at the Wilderness Lodge.

I put together my own flowers so I don't need that but I think we'll get a cake from Publix.

Thanks for your help!

You cannot have a Wedding or VR anywhere on Disney property without going through DFTW. If you are caught you'd be asked to leave.

It's not anything official. My husband and I have written new vows to read to one another. There will be no preacher.

We thought it would be nice to recommit ourselves to each other and especially nice for our daughter to see, get dressed up, and have a great dinner BUT I would like to do it somewhere nice at the Wilderness Lodge.

So you and your DH and daughter (no other guests, right?) would just like to go somewhere on property and read what you have written?

What would you be wearing while doing this?

You probably can do this since it is just reading to each other, but people may stop and look, etc. Also, I'm 100% certain that, if you want a few photos of this actually happening, you will have to use an outside photographer.

If you try to use Disney, they will be on to you and won't let it happen or will want it to go through DFTW.

Now, if you just want a family photo shoot afterwards, they can certainly do that.

Yes, that's exactly what I want, a family photo, in the Wilderness Lodge. I'm going to have to call the hotel to see if they have anyone there taking photos like they do in the Polynesian Resort. At the Polynesian you can actually add it to your photo pass. I'll have to call and ask.

You're right, people would be stopping to look. I need to find a good place in the hotel with not too many people going by. I just hate to do this in our room.

Does anyone know a good place in the Wilderness Lodge or outside of it? We've never stayed there.

Thanks for all your help!
