I have no clue what a timeshare is and she is telling me that for her honeymoon, someone is letting her use their timeshare. How does this work in Disneyworld? Say she wants to stay at Caribbean Beach Resort. Can they stay in any of the rooms and its already paid for or something? Please help, need to book very quickly! Thanks!

Edit: She is now saying that the woman told her it has to be a 5 star hotel. Has anyone ever heard of this with a timeshare or is the lady misinformed? I don't think any of Disneys resorts are 5 star. :confused3

I think you are not hearing all the details. Disney has the Disney vacation club that you can rent points from an owner.

I am going to transfer you to the DVC board for answers.

Edited: Didn't understand the question and others have provided a better response.

Tell your friend to ask the donor what trading company she is using to exchange her timeshare. If it isn't Interval International then your friend won't be able to stay inside of Disney World. If the trading company is Interval odds are your friend wont be able to stay anyway because Disney proper (DVC) is an extremely desirable but rarely available exchange.

It would be nice if the donor sent your friend a list of what seems to be available during the timeframe of her honeymoon in Orlando. That way she'd have a shot of narrowing things down.

"5 Star" is the designation given by Interval International for their better timeshare properties. All of Disney's and Marriott's timeshares are 5 Star with II. If your friend wants to honeymoon in the WDW area, she should let the gift-giver know that she is mostly interested in any Orlando area timeshare with Disney in its name or perhaps one of the area Marriotts.

The Sabal Palms and Royal Palms are 2 Marriotts on shared grounds with Marriott Orlando World Center so she would have shuttle access to the terrific pools and restaurants at that hotel as well as the quiet pool at each resort. I don't know if they offer spa services. (Star Island in Kissimmee does.) The Grand Vista is another upscale Marriott resort located closer to Sea World and she may enjoy that as well.

For a honeymoon, I would avoid a studio timeshare unit as they don't have the nice jacuzzi tubs, prettier views and generous space usually found in the 1BR units. If her heart is set on an onsite Disney stay, then a studio may be all that's available for her dates. She may want to note that timeshares do not offer daily housekeeping service and rarely have resort room service either (though most have local restaurants that deliver) - if that matters to her.

There are many other beautiful resorts in the area that trade through II. A look at TUG (see my sig below) or TripAdvisor.com may help to select a nice one, if the above are not available. Hope that helps. :)

I wonder if it is Bonnet Creek? Right next door to Caribbean Beach. Seemed like a 5 star to me :thumbsup2 .

All of the DVC timeshare are considered to be a 5 star trade. It sounds to me like someone is telling her they will gift her with a Disney stay for her honeymoon, but that the resort will be a 5 star trade. If she is trying to make that trade into DVC, she'll need lots of patience, luck and flexibility.

Just a little confused here- why is the person who is offering the timeshare not doing the arrangements for this? I don't think you or your friend can do it.. I would think the owner would have to do this. Maybe your friend needs to go back to the woman and get some explicit instructions. Something just doesn't sound right. If she is letting her use her Disney DVC then she(the owner)has to get all the arrangement done. If she is offering some other timeshare it is going to be very difficult to trade for something at Disney unless they have already done this. Good luck.

your friend can't stay in the CBR - this is a WDW resort not a DVC one.

as had been noted if they don't trade with II - then you can't get a DVC one.

the DVC properties are BWV, BCV, VWL, SSR and OKW. Believe me much better than CBR.

however if RCI - then there is a non-WDW resort - in between CBR and 535 - Fairfield Bonnet Creek - which is a hard trade also. this is not a Disney resort - so no extra onsite stuff.

if you friend timeshare is in Orlando - most of time - that timeshare will be where she stays. So her choices might be 'zero'.

This OP's question is now 3 days old. So much for HELP QUICK!

Actually, I PMed her, and she understands the information she needed now. She had no clue how timeshares operated.

Can you solve the mystery for us? Was it a DVC TS??? :confused3

Hey "Kid" won't you come back and tell us all how HOT we are???

I'm a chubby pink cat with a toothy grin, can't get much hotter than that.

The "Kid" really livens up the boards over in Theme Parks, check him out, he's a hoot.
