Hello my fellow disney brides! I have a few questions regarding the PS. I work in a school as a school psychologist. For this reason my availability to take days off is limited. It is very important for me to attend my PS at about 8 months out from my July 31, 2009 wedding. The only dates I am available around the 8 months out is November 6-9 or the week between Christmas and New Years. I was wondering a few things:
1. Do they do PS the week between Christmas and New Years?

2. Is there any chance they will let me do the PS (tastings etc) this summer? Has anyone been allowed to do this prior to 8 months before?

3. Are the rates always super high at christmas time?

4. Will disney work with my schedule to try to fit this in?

Thanks girls. I am in some real panic here!

1. Do they do PS the week between Christmas and New Years?

That is a question that only the FTW folks can answer. Remember, not only will there be weddings held at that time, there will also be some Cast Members who will be out on vacation. However, with enough advance notice, hopefully something can be worked out. Give 'em a call. ;)

Again, a question for the FTW folks. I'm hopeful that something can be worked out for you.

3. Are the rates always super high at christmas time?

If you're talking about the actual days between Christmas & New Year's, the answer is yes. That is an extremely busy time for vacation since children are on holiday from school (college kids, too). Due to it being prime vacation time, Disney charges higher prices for a few things such as hotel rooms, certain meals, etc.

Now, with that being said, if you can arrive either right before Christmas or right after New Year's (or even during the November dates that you mentioned) when the room rates might be a little lower, that would be easier on your travel budget. Do consider looking into it, and don't forget that the Codes and Rates Board here on the Dis is a great place to pick up some information in regards to room rates, meal plans, etc. They're a wealth of information over there.

4. Will disney work with my schedule to try to fit this in?

When I was trying to find a date for my PS, the FTW folks worked with me to come up with a date that suited both their schedule and mine. I'm sure they'll do the same for you. Remember, the more advance notice you can give them, the better.

Thanks so much Janet. I spoke with my wedding coordinator today and I think that we are going to wait until Jan, Feb, or March to go. I really appreciate your help! It helped relieve some of my stress!

Have a wonderful time and try and decide as much as you can on your own before you go. I found that that made the planning session go quicker and more efficently! It is pricier during the summer and Christmas. It is also really crowded. Make some time to have fun with your future hubbie!

BethanyMouse, I'm glad to hear that you spoke with the FTW folks. Remember that if you can't do an on-site planning session, you can certainly do one by telephone and/or e-mail. Disney has planning sessions down to a science. ;)
