So, I have all my t-shirts, all my designs and I went to Michaels and bought Wilton (brand) Iron transfer paper for DARK tshirts.

Because I have DARK t-shirts.

So I am downstairs at my dinning room table, all ready to go.... I peel off the back and lay the image down, place the parchment over the image and as I am holding the iron in place I realize that the image is on WHITE paper (or whatever it is called.)

So now instead of having just my picture ....I have this white background on my blue t shirt.... it looks horrible....

I can go and buy another shirt.... but what kind of paper should I buy? I thought I was doing the right thing by getting the kind for dark fabric.....

HELP!!!!!

You have to cut around the image if you don't want white to show when you use dark transfer paper. You can put a box around the image if it makes it easier. Light transfer paper won't show up on dark shirts.

:headache: :scared1:

........I have a navy blue shirt, and I want the navy blue to come through where my picture has no ink.... like a silk screen.... is there any way to do this?

With dark T-shirt transfers, everywhere that your design is clear on the inside will show up as being white on your shirt. If you want the blue to come through, you will have to cut out the white parts. The only way to do what you are asking is to actually silk screen the design onto your shirt. I hope that you can salvage your design! :goodvibes

I am not sure what design you are using but if you do not mind ALL white areas to be navy (shirt color) then a light transfer is what you need.

But be aware that not just the border/background will be clear but ALL white areas of the transfer. For example if you have a character and his eyes or hands are white - they will be navy.

Does that make sense?

Thanks everyone for your help and input. I tried today (with a scrap of dark green fabric that I had) to see what my image would look like with light paper. :-( you could bearly see it because the shirt was so dark.

So, since I don't know how to silk screen... my next step is to try and 'cut out' the white parts with an exacto knife......

I'll let you know how it turns out!
