Hi..First of all..This is a great board. :bounce: I am hooked on it. Second, I have heel spurs and I need a good, comfortable shoe to wear. Any suggestions?? TIA

My heel spurs are on the back of my heels (rather than the bottom), so I find that "backless" shoes work best for me. I wear them almost exclusively, all year long. For DW, I use athlethic shoes that are called "mules" - they're sort of backless sneakers. Good support for your foot, but don't rub on the back of your feet. Reebock, Nike, and Sketchers all make very comfortable athletic mules.

I'm not a Croc wearer, myself. Not my style of shoe.

I have also had luck with good quality flip-flops at DW (tried them last October and they worked great). Not the cheap ones, but good quality neoprene ones.

It really depends on where your heel pain is located - the bottom of your feet or the back.

Crocs have a strap that swivels. It can be worn on the back of the foot, or flipped up and over to sit on the top of the shoe if you want to wear them backless.

For Christmas, I got a pair of Keen Newports from Zappos.com. I learned about them on this board. Very comfy.

If you go to this link from my trip report:

I posted a picture of the sandals I bought specifically for WDW.....they were GREAT (expensive--$115 but it SAVED my feet and made the vacation one where I didn't have to cringe with every step I took)

Since the trip I have finally found a name for my "foot problem"...plantar fasciatis (sp?), sometimes called heel spurs. I have also bought a pair of "winter" SAS shoes, on clearance :cool1: for 60%off, still pricey for what I like to spend, but my feet love them :goodvibes
Good luck

I don't have bone spurs, but I have leg weakness and I have a pair of Easy Spirit shoes that look just like tennis shoes and they are great for walking at Disney.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I've just gotta ask - what are heel spurs? I ask because I have a very small bump on the back of my right heel that causes severe sharp pain when it is pressed. Could this be the same thing? If so, is there treatment for it? Its getting very hard to wear shoes with backs for any length of time. TIA!

AGREE. LOVE LOVE LOVE my Keens. I, too, learned about them here. I wore them the whole time last trip. I wear them all the time at home too. I have the Newports, too. We got ours at the Walking Company. :thumbsup2

me TOOO!!!! i love this - i find myself spending way too much time at work reading this instead of working! I have been looking for shoes to wear to WDW too. I also have bad heel spurs, and have been worrying that they are going to ruin my first ever trip to WDW! Crocs are the most comfortable shoe I have found. I also wear Clarks to work everyday. My doctor told me that it is better to find a shoe that has a heel (not like high heels) but the heel needs to be elevated so as to take the pressure off your heels. I'm happy to see other people responding ...
