My heel spurs are on the back of my heels (rather than the bottom), so I find that "backless" shoes work best for me. I wear them almost exclusively, all year long. For DW, I use athlethic shoes that are called "mules" - they're sort of backless sneakers. Good support for your foot, but don't rub on the back of your feet. Reebock, Nike, and Sketchers all make very comfortable athletic mules.
I'm not a Croc wearer, myself. Not my style of shoe.
I have also had luck with good quality flip-flops at DW (tried them last October and they worked great). Not the cheap ones, but good quality neoprene ones.
It really depends on where your heel pain is located - the bottom of your feet or the back.
