I thought I had chosen the Swan, and I got pretty much the exact same rate at the Swan that I had at POR. For some reason I just can't bring myself to cancel the POR ressie. I really need to do it tonight though so I can get my deposit back.

I know I've asked this question before, but if anyone has any last minute advice one way or the other, I'd appreciate it.

It would be for the two nights that we plan on going to MGM and Epcot, or maybe just Boardwalk strolling or DTD.

Thanks

Shel

If it helps any, the Swan ends up being $29 cheaper.

My concerns, btw, were:

POR- busses a pain, crowded, door opens to walkway

Swan- less appealing theming, particularly at Christmas time

So for POR, the main positive thing would be theming. For Swan, the location and simplicity of transportaion are the main positive thing.

Help me decide before CRO closes!

Swan, hands down.

Especially if your plans have you spending most of your time at MGM and Epcot. The location cannot be beat. The Dolphin lobby is lovely at Christmas, and you're a stone's throw from the YC/BC and Boardwalk. But really, the Swan is great, and the location is ideal.

PO-R is a fun resort, it's not a bad choice at all! We've stayed there as well.

You are talking about a moderate (POR) that is large (3-4 internal bus stops alone) with exterior corridors located down the road from Epcot or MGM vs. a deluxe (Swan) with interior corridors, room service, Epcot and MGM within walking distance, the Boardwalk right there plus an awesome grotto pool with waterfall and white sandy beach.

IMHO, the Swan definitely wins!!! That's why I'm staying there in Dec.!!! :teeth:

I even like the Swan's decorations for Christmas, the 4 swans with the red bows are like "perfect" for me. Good food close by, walk or quick boat to Epcot or MGM, for me the Swan would win.

There was a $7 a night parking fee per night when we stayed at the Swan in September.

Ive stayed at POR twice, and the Swan 3x. I would definitely go with the Swan. FWIW, 2 of my Swan stays were in December and I thought the deocrations were just fine. Once I had a view of the Dolphin, which meant the Christmas Tree was right out the window below.

Anyone else have mold/mildew problems at the Swan? I was reading a lot of reports of it last night.

Thanks

i know i'm a day late, but i chose swan for queen beds vs. doubles...
not only are they queen-sized....they are heavenly ;)

There is no thinking about it, THE SWAN!!!!!!
I'm so tired of people judging the Swan from the outside. I have stayed in many Disney resorts and as you can see, I am now a Swan fan!!! The staff are courteous and mold and mildew are issues at the Poly, not the Swan. I had stayed at the Poly twice and I think mold and mildew can't be helped because of all the plants but not the Swan.
Those heavenly beds at the Swan are the only beds I have been able to have a good night's sleep in.
Whatever you decide, good luck

:cool1: :cool1: The Swan wins hands-down. Location, location, location. It is a beautiful hotel. AND, the beds are heavenly!!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

Location aside, the Swan is a wonderful resort. Great pools, food offerings, heavenly beds. And my goodness you can't beat the location. We stayed there last year for Thanksgiving and although the Swan lobby didn't have wonderful decorations, the Dolphin sure did. The tree at the Dolphin is amazing and the courtyard between the two is decorated nicely. I know it's really not "themed" but I don't consider the S/D "unthemed." Maybe the theme is contemporary whimsical.

We loved it and for the same price I would never pick a moderate over the Swan or Dolphin.

Not just because we stayed there and it was beautiful and no transportation problems for us. The number one reason is the dining plan! I just found out yesterday on these boards that if you stay at the Swan or Dolphin you can't purchase the dining plan (which we love) so I will probably never stay there. If that's not important to you then it's a toss up.

Cannot even compare the Swan to POR. The Swan is a hotel. POR is a themed motel. No comparison whatsoever.
