Hi, we are currently booked in at the Rennaissance hotel near seaworld, but have read quite a few negative things about this hotel, now we have been discussing if it would be worth changing our hotel to Disney one. We are there 19th August to 3rd september 2006. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also would this change help with the ee days???

you can't go wrong switching to a DISNEY one.EE and tran. are just the perks of staying in a disney themed bed.JMI but if you can afford it it's well worth it .Some complain of the buses and times just plan ahead and go early it still beats driving yourself around.

You never lose the MAGIC when staying on-sight.

Don't know if this will help, but there is a site www.tripadvisor.com where you can read people's reviews of hotels, good and bad.

Personally, I love staying onsite at Disney just for convenience. We love being able to get back quickly for a swim, nap or forgotten item. (Change of clothes after the Kali River Rapids last month!) I can't imagine having to wait for the parking lot tram, get to my car and drive back in traffic after a long day at the parks. And truthfully, last year when my husband had a conference in Orlando ( we decided to tag along), we compared the price of the hotel where he was supposed to stay on International Drive to the Disney mods, and his was higher! So, his company agreed to let us stay at the WDW hotel.

But there are just as many who swear by outside hotels and think it's a waste of money!

We only stay onsight at Disney. To say staying on Disney property is magical is an understatemnet. The hotels are fabulous. Whether you stay at a deluxe, moderate, or value, you are assured that you will be staying in a unique themed hotel that offers transportation to all things Disney, great dining experiences, and exceptional service from CM. To us, it "just adds to the Disney experience." If you decide to visit Sea World or US/IOA, all you have to do is take a cab or drive!

Not to mention that the traffic from the SeaWorld area to WDW can be very heavy during the day (like whenever we are going that way, LOL!) adding time to your transit. Who wants to sit in traffic when you could be riding Test Track! Or soaking in the hotel hot tub, or sipping a cocktail at the pool bar, or...

I love staying on Disney property. The budget hotels are a GREAT deal, they are clean and nice and an ok size. I personally would switch, try and get a deal

I haven't heard anything about that hotel, but I think if it's possible you should stay on Disney property. We just stayed in the All Star Music hotel this past March and it was perfect for us. And you can't beat the bus transportation and the extra magic hours!! Check out the resorts board and I'm sure you can find a lot of info. And if I'm not mistaken, you can take a shuttle to Sea World from the hotel.

I am also a fan of staying onsite. We love all the Disney hotels we have stayed in, and have never had issues with transportation. If we stayed offsite we would spend more time driving around getting lost than we would in the parks! The convience of staying on property, the emh's, the disney services, and the magic of disney are really important to me.

::MinnieMo I'm a huge fan of staying onsite as well. The resort theming, the convenience, and having disney magic surround you the whole trip make it sooo worth it! And with the different price teirs, you have many options and choices.

I've never heard of WDW offering shuttles to Sea World - but you can hire a shuttle company to get you there.

I am not sure if I understood you correctly or not, but, you can ONLY take advantage of Early Entry (or Extra Magic Hours as it is now known) if you are staying on property. This is a perk for Disney Resort guests only.
Staying onsite is truly magical, and with the different resort categories, it is pretty affordable to all.
Good Luck in your decision.

the Renaissance was built when SW was built in 1972. It is an older hotel. I haven't stayed there in years - but it was still nice in the 90's.

It is now a Marriott and I really though that Marriott would improve it.

It was a 4 star hotel before Marriott.

but if you are going to Orlando mainly for WDW - then I would definitely stay at WDW. Yes, for the WDW 4 stars hotels they are more expensive than the Renaissance. they are BC, YC, GF, BW. All the other WDW hotels are 3 stars. that includes my favorites - WL, Polyn, AKL, PO.
