Hi i have been to WDW quite a few times but never for my DD's b'day, which is what we are planning for our next trip unfortunately it will not be in 2009 "What will you celebrate" ... We are going Jan 2010!
OK there are 18 of us going altogether :scared1:

Me and my B'day girl who will turn 11
My Mum and Dad
Brother, Gf and DD 4
My Best friend, her hubbie, DD13, DD9, DS7
My Aunt
My Cousin, her hubbie, DD5, DS4 and will have a baby of 8 months when we go

We are staying offsite in 1 huge villa :rotfl: .. My best friend and her family and my brother's gf and little one have never been so we are planning so many things to do and all the parks we can cram into 2 weeks, literally all of them hahhaahha

Ok my request for help is for my DD's b'day
She has requested Mk for her b'day day so that is where we are going of course .. b'day girl commands we obey ;)

I was thinking (but not a definite) about doing the Mary Poppins breakie (a surprise) that morning as early as possible then heading into the park .. after that i am stuck??????
I don't know where to do dinner?? I'm thinking because we are in Mk would be best to eat there or the closest hotels, which i think are the Contemporary and the Polynesian ... OOh also for the b'day dinner we will have another 2 adults and 2 children :rotfl: ... Anywhoo i just don't know where to do dinner, also if you have any other ideas of how to make her day even more special then they will be really appreciated

Long i know but TIA :thumbsup2

You could try chef mickeys at the contemporary I've never done the dinner but we enjoyed the breakfast. There is also a new restaurant at the top of the contemporary but my mind has gone blank and i can't remember the name of it. You could eat there and watch the fireworks at the same time, but the kids might be too young to enjoy it as i think it is more formal where chef mickeys is not.
If you are having an early breakfast and then all day at MK your kids might be so tired that they won't feel like a sit down dinner later in the day so maybe you could have a nice dinner celebrating her birthday another night. Thats just my thoughts after taking a 4,7 and 11 yr old this year they would never have made an early morning and a late night with a park all day.

Yes we have also done the breakie at Chef Mickey's and loove it, i will look up the 1 at the top, thankyou, i know the 4 older ones will be ok with both but i know what you mean about the littlies am not sure they are coming for the breakie so that wouldn't be too bad and wouldn't be doing the dinner late either, am ordering a cake, once i have finally decided on where we are eating, so obviously want everyone there for that and there will be 21 plus baby for that :scared1:
Thankyou

Or maybe i should do a lunch rather than breakie and dinner???????
What do you think??

another thought is the crystal palace in MK again i've only done breakfast but it is winnie the pooh and friends. since its in the park you wouldn't have to leave so lunch might work out good in it.
it is so hard trying to plan:confused3 we were back and fore with all our plans and were worried about some but it all worked out good.
we also went to the hoopdedoo dinner show at fort wilderness and the kids really loved that

Main problems i also have are that we are doing Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's for breakie during the holiday and did CRT before and didn't enjoy it at all so not sure where else in MK we could do proper dinner if you know what i mean?

Thanks again

We did DS 7th b'day a couple of years back. Had breakfast at Chef Mickey's, late lunch at Cinderella Castle and ended the (very) long day watching Wishes infront of the castle. It was an absolutely fantastic day, still talked about by us all. Make sure everyone knows it's her birthday and you'll be amazed at what happens! We also bought a gift for Mickey to give our DS at breakfast which went down brilliantly!

We love the dinners at Crsytal Palace - does she like the Pooh characters?

Yeh loves them all we have done the brekaie there a couple of times .. only prob is its on the list to have breakie there this time round and was wanting either something new or different if you know what i mean?

Has anybody eaten at the Polynesian? Is it Ohana's there?

We love Kona cafe at the Polynesian, take the monorail. It's nice to take a break from the bustle of the MK and the air con at the Poly is great.

Ooh great, is the food good there? What sort of food is it? That's what i was thinking then back on the monorail and to the car park home hahahahaha

Hi - I haven't eaten at Ohana for several years. But I would say it is probaby an enjoyable place for dinner. My kids loved it. It is a set menu though, so you might want to check to make sure it's stuff everyone will like. I think they have menus somewhere on this site and also on wdwig.com

Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge is also a fun place for dinner. You could get the boat from the Magic Kingdom.

But if you're not too worried about the cost and want to do a more adult oriented meal, after doing the character breakfast in the morning, I would choose California Grill in the Contemporary. Kids would be fine there - it's fun watching the chefs prepare the food in the open kitchen. Plus, if you schedule your dinner for before the MK fireworks, they have a long balcony you can go out on to watch (only if you're not afraid of heights though - it's 14 stories up).

California Grill serves awesome food. It's my favourite WDW restaurant, after Victoria and Alberts.

Another vote here for Whispering Canyon.
We had a fantastic time and they really make a fuss of you, loads of fun and games etc. While we were there there was a big party - probably about the same size as the one you will be in - celebrating a young girls graduation and they were definately the center of attention that night.
It's hard to describe in detail what goes on there but the satff seem to have something to do - or say - for different situations (like ordering a large coke, or asking for ketchup) so I know you wouldn't be dissapponited at the end of the evening.
The other thing is if you time it right you can then go out the back of the Wilderness Lodge to the beach and see Wishes from there.

Ok both Ohana's and the California Grill sound great, esecially with the fireworks, that could be an added bonus :)
Will check out the menu's for all those
Thanks very much :thumbsup2

Is Whispering Canyon far from MK?
That sounds like great fun i will have a look at the menu .. with so many people and so many different ages and pickiness :rotfl: i really am having to research

Thaks very much

The new restaurant at the Contempary is called 'The Wave' and whilst I haven't dined there, the reviews don't seem to suggest that it is a fun for kids kind of place. More adult, I think. Have you thought of a Wishes or Illuminations cruise? We did this last trip for DS's 9th birthday and it was brilliant (we did Illuminations) and we had private dining put a birthday cake on the boat. It was magical.
Just as a side note, we ate at Whispering Canyon last trip too and was disappointed as we didn't receive any 'special treatment' from our server at all, despite asking for ketchup and ordering a large coke and some water. It really depends on the server, I think. So please don't bank on one who wants to 'play'.

Ooh the cruise sounds nice, any ideas how much it is and how many people it will take?
I'm also looking at the Flying Fish Cafe anybody know what that one is like?

Thaks again :thumbsup2
