I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. My DH and I are considering a move to Florida. I would be interested in getting a job at WDW. I know that they are hiring right now, but does anyone know what kind of benefits they offer, or maybe what is the starting wage for a waitress? I know that most income will come from tips, but just curious? Thanks for all the help.

Heard Good Bennies, low pay thought.

As a bartender who waitressed for years before this, I can tell you that ALL your income comes from tips. Pretty much all restaurants pay half of minimum wage for waitstaff. So for instance if Florida's minimum wage is $7 an hour(which I am not sure what it is), your hourly wage will be $3.50. Then they take taxes out on your tips and wages, so you very rarely see a paycheck that is worth running to the bank for. If you are a banquet server, you do not get tipped so your pay is higher.

I am pretty sure WDW is no exception as it is common practice to do this in every restaurant I have ever worked at and since it is reported their pay is not that great, I am sure they would not be an exception to the rule.

I am not saying money is not good for being a waitress, you just can not count the pay check into the equation.

Wow - lucky you!! I'm Jealous!! princess:
I know people might convince me otherwise - but I have always thought
working at WDW would be the best job. I know working with the public has its ups and downs (I used to work at Wal-mart for 5 years) But its still gotta be worth it to work at the most magical place on earth!!

I almost took a job as a performer at wdw right out of high school. I am pretty glad that I didn't. I think when you see the ins and outs of a business like that, it kind of ruins it for you. I know back then ('92ish) that the starting pay for waitstaff was $2 hr + tips and for performers was $7.50 an hour. They had WONDERFUL benefits though, plus free admission. :)
