HELP Please With Resort for 15-16 nights With 2 year old

Hello,

I have literally been losing sleep over this situation. Right now we are checking in next Thursday at AOA Nemo suite. This trip is myself, my wife and my 2 1/2 year old daughter. The main issue is she is not sleeping in a bed and I do not want to put her in a bed during the trip as I am afraid she will not go back into her crib when we return home. We tested her out this last weekend in her pack and play at my mother in laws house in a separate room. Needless to say she freaked out and ended up in our room. She is tall for her age at 34 inches so the pack and play was tight. I purchased a full size portable crib online and was thinking of buying a mattress or bringing her's with us (we are driving). Our other options based on our dates and AP rates is POFQ king size room, POR King Size room or Pop Century. Right now my daughter is obsessed with Finding Dory that's why I chose the Nemo suite and with us staying this length of time we will be having resort time. We will be eating breakfast in the room almost every day and I wanted to give us all more room. Last August we stayed in POP refurbished queen size room with her pack and play. I won't lie it was really rough after the first week and my daughter wasn't walking on her own last year and she now is. WHy I am torn is honestly the price difference between the above options and if she is going to end up in our room I will feel as though we are paying for a bigger room for nothing. But on the other hand we will be eating in the room every morning and with the amount of time we are their we do not rush to do the parks but take our time etc. What would you do? Should I keep AOA for the room, her current obsession and the amazing pool. We've never stayed there. Or Should I switch to POP for the price difference and suck up the size of the room? Or even try POFQ king room with her crib since the room is a bit bigger than POP. I have been going back and forth about this for weeks and I have until the 28th to make up my mind!!

I think for that length of time the lack of space at Pop would get to you. I’d stick with AoA and hope after the first few days your daughter would feel more familiar and comfortable to sleep in the other room. POR is my fav moderate. Pofq is very nice too. And taking the boat to Disney Springs is so nice.

Sorry, that doesn't answer your question. Stay with AoA. Yes, it's more per night, but for two weeks plus, you'll be happier with the extra space. And the microwave.

I agree. You are there for too long to try to all fit in a POP room with a crib.

At 2 1/2 you could probably convert your crib to a toddler bed when you return (depending on your crib of course). Ymmv but it’s about the right age - they don’t stay babies forever lol.

As someone else mentioned, rent a crib. From the info on the Disney for Families board on here, that is the way to go.

Also, I'd stick with AoA. If you feel the need to switch, I'd do King at POFQ. Smaller resort with only one bus stop, and for two weeks, the boat to DS may be a nice way to do meals and time away from the parks.

I would stick with the suite and bring the crib. If the trip were shorter, I'd suggest switching to a king room, but for that length of time, even if she ends up sleeping with you, I think you will be glad you have some space to stretch out. I know it's long shot, but are there any 1-bedroom villas available? They would be more expensive, but that would have given you a king bed and a living room (plus kitchen and washer/dryer).

You know your kid the best, but keep in mind, she might be so zonked at the end of the night, she won't care where she's sleeping.

If she NEEDS it dark, AoA might be better. At POR or POFQ you'd end up with the pack n play or crib in the bathroom dressing area unless you want to sit in a completely dark hotel room (speaking from experience anyway)

We brought our then 12 month old to Disney and she would never sleep in the pack n play at home. When we got there they gave us a pack n play with a mattress pad that was too small and had a bump in it. I thought for sure we wouldn't sleep for the week. But she loved being in the room falling asleep with us and I think she was just so over tired from the over stimulation of the vacation that she slept better than she did at the time at home! Don't stress about it because you might be pleasantly surprised. If she doesn't like the pack n play then just get a bed guard for the side of the bed and let her sleep in the bed. Might make your transition once youre ready at home much easier.

I voted stay at AoA, as you will love having the extra room for such a long stay. When we went in 2016, my sister rented a crib for my 18 month old niece (she was worried like you, that she wouldn't want to be in her crib when we got home) and it all worked out great. Renting a crib was such a good idea and was only $70 for the 7 nights we were there. When we went in 2017, my niece was 2 1/2 and they didn't rent a crib, she slept in a bed and was fine the whole time, and it was no problem when we got home, with her crib. So I say keep the AoA reservation and rent/bring a crib.

We stayed at the values with 2 DDs and had no issues, but based on you saying that you found it tough at POP, where you actually have more space when you leave the 2nd bed in the wall, I would suggest you stay with AOA and either bring/rent a crib.

I would stay with AOA. For that long of a trip, you will thank yourself later for getting the extra space! Our experience, for what it's worth.....we rented a crib from Kingdom strollers, it was clean, and VERY easy/ quick set up. Our DD would not sleep in it. She woke about every 15 minutes all night, we were exhausted the next day. I assumed she needed to get used to it. Second night was just as bad, I finally brought her back to bed with us. Third night, made DS sleep on the twin bed/couch and I slept with DD on second queen. This worked much better for us. We were there for ten nights. Coming home, a little sleep adjustment and night wakings for a couple weeks. No matter where your little one sleeps it's not going to be her normal, so I expect a little trouble. Hope it goes well for you all.

I would vote AoA for the space.

We rented full size cribs for my children when we traveled. I know it is a pain, but I would pack their crib sheets and bedding from home. They slept much better in the crib with the sheets from home because they smelled like home if that makes sense. Hope you have a great trip!

I voted other... thinking about AKL and the balcony where you could hang and chill while she sleeps. Same room but extra space with the balcony!

I also think in AoA if the baby needs to see an adult to sleep, one adult could easily crash on one of the fold out beds, and then move later to the bedroom.

For that long and with those options I would do a split stay with AoA and POFQ. Probably ending with AoA in case she got upset at not having the Dory room anymore. 15-16 days would be a long time in the same place.

I would be reluctant to pay the suite prices at AoA with 3 people when I could stay at AKL or WL probably for a similar rate.

Agree. Best experience renting the crib from Kingdom!!! My 15 month old slept perfectly~!!! Super clean crib!
