My family is currently booked at the AoA for 9 nights beginning Dec. 29 under the airline employee discount (40%). This is an awesome rate. It does mean that we are not eligible to add the dinning plan or purchase discounted tickets. I'm trying to figure out if it would make more sense for us to do a split stay with the new promotion. Is it possible to get tickets on a package early to be used on the first half of the trip? We have a dinning reservation almost everyday. I would love to do two rooms at CSR for the second half of the stay as we have never stayed at that resort. The kids are super excited to do AoA, so I figured this may be the best of both worlds. I know our discount is quite significant and don't know if overall it would pay off to split with the new package. All suggestions welcome...TIA.

You can pick up tickets 3 days early at guest services at a park or DTD. You could do s/p/d starting Jan 2-7 and the interline discount Dec 29-Jan 2. You won't be able to pick up your tickets until Dec 30 though. It might be the 31st not sure if they count the day you check in as one of the 3 days or not. You will then get 5 nights of dining credits starting Jan 2. I think I counted your days right but regardless you can get them 3 days early and the discount starts Jan 2. I'd price it carefully though not sure with 3 Disney kids and 3 Disney adults that the s/p/d/ will be cheaper when paying rack rate for 2 rooms at CSR.

With a discount of 40%, I wouldn't change anything. I don't think there is any way you'll do better than that. Just pay for food out of pocket (you may find that it will be a savings for you anyway...not having to eat the way Disney wants you to). And buy discounted tickets from UndercoverTourist.

I figured our current discount was the best, but you never know. I had figured that free dinning would have been better, but of course that's not the offer. :sad1: Thanks for your help, I might run the numbers just to compare. It's like an illness...I keep looking and looking at different ways to run the trip (secretly, it's pretty fun for me).

So, I've ran the numbers and given our reservations it works out almost completely equal. Am I crazy for wanting to do a split stay and give up a 40% discount? The dinning I think is the thing that is causing things to be so equal.

split stay using what discount/s?

I would do s/p/d if it works out in your favor for one resort but not for a split. You have to buy tickets twice if you do it that way.

We love the dining plan so when it's offered free or even with a 35% room code and add dining OOP we do that over the 40% interline discount. Works out better in our favor.

Anyways it would just depend what you plan on splitting and at what price

do you plan Dec 29-Jan 2 with interline and Jan2-&? with s/p/d? You will have to kill some resort time the first couple of days b/c you can't get your tickets until 3 days early from the pkg.

Yes, that's the split I'm thinking of. 4 nights at AoA interline rate, and the next 5 nights under the s/p/d package at CSR (2 rooms). I thought we could pick up the tickets on the 30th, am I wrong? We could easily do the first night just settling in or do WWoS complex.

3 days before the start of the pkg. I don't know if they count the pkg start date as a day or not so either the 30th or the 31st. There's a sticky in the tickets section and you can ask there for clarification.

Have you priced using undercover tourist for discounted tickets with the interline for the room and dining OOP? I think if the s/p/d is close I'd use it. Do you have meals planned already?

Yes, I do already have dinnig res. for every night of our trip. I agree, I'm going to run the numbers and check on the ticket thing, but I'm leaning more toward the s/p/d package. I love having everything paid for before we go and not worrying about carrying around a hundred gift cards. Thanks for the input, headed to the ticket sticky.
