Help please - Where to stay in Coventry?

Hello everyone,

We have just heard that DD11 is going to be representing Northern Ireland (for gymnastics) at the UK School Games - 25th & 26th August - being held in the Skydome in Coventry. Proud parents we are

Anyway DH & I (with DS7 if he wants to come) are looking at flying over from Belfast on Friday 24th and will need 2 nights accommodation somewhere. Unfortunately we know nothing about Coventry so can any of you good people recommend somewhere nice to stay that doesnt cost the earth

I live near Coventry, and I can tell you that the Skydome is very close to the City Centre. I can highly recommend the Hotel Leofric which is in the City Centre too http://www.menzies-hotels.co.uk/hotels/coventry/menzies_leofric
(which we have recently stayed in). There is also the Britannia Hotel http://www.britanniahotels.com/hotel_home.asp?page=83 and there is a Ramada Hotel close to the Skydome http://www.ramadacoventry.co.uk/RunScript.asp?p=ASP\Pg0.asp

There are also Travel Inns and Travelodges around if you're on a budget, but they aren't as close to the City Centre

Still have to finalise flights yet (once our hol leave is agreed from work) but the Hotel Leofric looks nice

It's nice to have one recommended. Looking at the distances from the airport etc and hotel to the dome I don't think we will need to hire a car which is great. DH has already checked the Birmingham Airport site and we can get the bus straight into Coventry for a couple of quid

Now we just have to hope DD doesn't get injured between now and then - gymnastics isn't exactly a safe sport!
